Mamas & their babies
Valerie and I met through my old job about 3 years ago.
She is one of the few people I have met here in Miami who was raised here and still makes Miami her permanent home.
It’s hard for me to believe that Valerie is 1- from here and 2- that I haven’t known her longer because when I’m with her, I’m quickly reminded of Kristin who I have known almost my whole life.
Valerie is a fun, strong, easy going, hands-on mama to her wild and charismatic Kali.
I miss working with this lady but, I’m glad I have her as a friend and I can always call her for a fun time out. 🙂
Q- How old are you Valerie?
A- 34
Q- Where were you born?
A- Santurce, Puerto Rico
Q- How long have you lived in Miami?
A- All my life!
Q- How old were you when you had Kali?
A- 29
Q- How old is she?
A- 5
Q- Did you breast feed and if so, for how long?
A- I only breast fed for two months on and off. Kali had an operation at 26 days that interrupted our breastfeeding. I wish I could have done it for longer. 🙁
Q- Are you a stay at home mom or a working mom?
A- Working mommy
Q- What was the hardest part for you of becoming a mom?
A- I had no experience with kids AT ALL before I had Kali, so everything scared me. But mostly, not being able to just get up and go somewhere when I felt like it.
Q- How did you come up with the name for Kali?
A- Kali is the name of a Hindu Goddess. I almost called her Kali Flower but decided that would be really mean. Lol!
Q- What is the best advice you would give to a new mom?
A- Don’t forget to breathe! And spend as much time as you can with your kids, they grow so fast.
thank you Valerie and Kali!
