Barcelona
In May of 2008 on the way to visit my family in Portugal, Will and I decided to stop in Barcelona for a few days.
It was his first time there, it was my second. (my first time was in 2004 with my brother)
We rented a one bedroom apartment in an old neighborhood near Las Ramblas and it was way better than any hotel we could have booked.
We could walk everywhere from our apartment, and for the 3 days we were there, we did!
We walked all around and marveled in everything Barcelona had to offer.
The food, the architecture (both old and new), the art, the people….
We got to see good friends, both Will’s and mine.
I may not know Paris, Rome or Tokyo but, I do know Barcelona.
And to know Barcelona, is to love Barcelona.
I can’t wait to one day return. (hopefully sooner than later)
Barcelona, where the old meets the new
our little apartment had 2 wonderful little balconies
Casa Milla, I could have stayed on that rooftop forever
Casa Batlo
Park Guell
La Sagrada Familia
Barceloneta

It looks amazing. I love reminiscing about old trips.
A close friend of mine just got back from Portugal, too – she said it was absolutely lovely!

Thanks for sharing all those beautiful pictures. My in-laws will be visiting Barcelona next month. Do you recommend anywhere special they should visit while in Barcelona?

@Yoly,
they should for sure to as many Gaudi buildings as possible. Park Guell, Casa Milla, Casa Batlo. And then just walk around, it is such an amazing city, you find things wherever you go!

Wow, beautiful! Lovvve the photos! I love seeing other people’s travel photos, and for some reason I love them even more if they are older and I know how many memories these special photos bring.
I have not left the country YET (ok, I’ve been to Canada haha) but I would love to go to Barcelona one day!!

@Mallory,
you would love Barcelona. but, you are doing what so many people don’t do, which is to see your own country. so many people are always so eager to see other countries that they forget how many beautiful things there are to see in their own country. 🙂
