Self worth
i take care of Lily, i take care of the house, so why is it that only now that i’m “working” and earning my own money, i feel self worth again?
nothing like buying something with money you earned yourself

My husband and I have both done stints of staying at home, and we both struggled with not earning money. It’s weird, because in both cases we made the decision together for one of us to stay home in an effort to SAVE MONEY. But we’re both used to having a lot of financial independence and it’s hard to give that up.

@Hanna,
i started working and earning my own money at the age of 15. i know what you mean about financial independence. i think it’s been one of the greatest struggles of being a stay at home mom.

Yep, earning your own money simply feels great!
Throughout history, staying home & raising children was never properly respected, although it was an expectation for a woman & in some cultures, still is. Yet, maintaining this core stability for your children & spouse—& truly, the greater community—is devalued as a job.
Odd that, no?
