vanity fair
i must say that i have been really enjoying vanity fair magazine for the last year or so
there has been the right mix of fashion, music, film, politics, current events…
that being said, i must also say that i was a bit disappointed when i opened the new june issue and found Marilyn Monroe on the cover yet again but inside a huge article about Whitney Houston is written
i decided to check the past covers and here how things have gone down:
so far in 2012- Julianna Margulies w/ Claire Danes, Sofia Vergara&Michelle Dockery, Julia Roberts, Scarlett Johansson and a few other young actresses, Daniel Craig w/ George Clooney&Matt Damon, lady Gaga
in 2011- Scarlett Johansson, Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie, Jenifer Lopez, Emma Stone, Will&Kate, Katy Perry, Rob Lowe, Robert Pattinson, Hollywood issue (Anne Hathaway, Jake G, James Franco), Justin Bieber, Johnny Depp
in 2010- Cher, Marilyn Monroe, Lindsay Lohan, Gaga, Angelina Jolie, Didier Drogba&Cristiano Ronaldo, Grace Kelly, Michael Douglas, Anna Kendrick w/ Kristen Stewart&Carey Mulligan, Tiger Woods, Meryl Streep
is it just me or does vanity fair think that you should be a certain color in order to be on their covers?
i mean, unless you are Obama or Tiger Woods that is
i’m only calling it as i see it
if you want to look for yourself, go here
shame on you vanity fair, shame on you!

I’ve never really read Vanity Fair. I think all magazines are choosing to not put anyone of color in the cover…. so very sad! Obama and Tiger Woods are only half African American after all..makes you think even more. Blah…to all the magazines who choose to be that way. They’re really missing out on all the wonderful nationalities they could have on their cover.
