a garden update. hibiscus
i don’t know why it has taken me so long to figure out that the hibiscus flower is the flower to have here in miami
i mean, i have been wanting more flowers in our yard and now that we have gone and bought three more hibiscus bushes, it makes perfect sense
they are a tropical flower
duh, Claudia
so we may not be able to have peonies or hydrangeas…
but we can have hibiscus
and with literally hundreds of different kinds of hibiscus, the possibilities are endless
did you also know that you can make tea from the hibiscus flower?
you can! and Will has
joining Annie for how does your garden grow?
kiss n tell hibiscus

I love how colourful your garden is. Whilst everything here is brown and orange, your garden is full of hot pink, purple and red 🙂 Are you planning to make tea from your hibiscus flowers or just admire them?

The hibiscus is such a beautiful flower isn’t it? I do have a little blue hibiscus that did flower for a couple of years outside but hasn’t in recent years. It probably needs some tlc! Beautiful photographs x

@Rachel,
thank you Rachel. maybe you should re-pot it. it might be a little stunted. they actually can get to grow quite big and tall!

Such colour is a real treat for the eyes – I love how you are making tea from them too. Beautiful and useful – what more could you ask for?
I love these photos, the edges of their petals remind me of girls tutu style skirts – thanks for joining in this week again, I love these x

Wow, the hibiscus is just stunning! Such amazing tropical colours. I had a yellow hibiscus in a garden of an old flat, but it always looked a little out of place in the London rain. There is something so delicate about their petals, they need constant sunshine I think…

@Sabrina,
yes, they are a tropical flower so they do best with lots of sun and rain 🙂

Wow wow wow, Claudia these are stunning, I do love Hibiscus, I was tempted to buy a potted one, but I’m not sure how well it would survive, any that I have seen over here seem to be a little further south of the country.
Yours gave me a real smile though and I love that you can have Hibiscus tea any time you like x

@Nichola,
thank you Nichola. yes, hibiscus are truly beautiful. it’s too bad the flower only lasts for one day. i think because they are a tropical flower, they do best with lots of sun and rain. x

Fabulous fabulous photos Claudia, so great to see. I’m missing my flower fix it has to be said. Saw a walled garden the other day only to discover they were planting – green leaves just aren’t the same! Your hibiscus is just beautiful, love it 🙂
