the weekend. saturday

if there is one thing i know about myself by now is that i need to live by water

the ocean preferably

i may not go and see it (or get in it) every day but i need to know that it is there and near

the ocean has always been there for me in a way

growing up in portugal it wasn’t too far from where we lived and it was where i spent my summers. at the beach

when we moved to new jersey, it wasn’t far once again and because my father did not like to be far from the ocean either, we would go and visit it often as a family

once i began driving (yes, i once used to drive), the beach would often be a place i would escape to

living in san diego in my late teens/early twenties was a dream

i was closer to the ocean than ever before living on the southern california coast. and it provided me with some of the most beautiful sunsets i have ever seen

believe it or not, there are not many places where one can sit and eat right on the ocean here in miami

but saturday we did

and it felt good to see an old friend

a friend that always makes me feel nostalgic for what has passed and what is yet to come…

  2. Wow! You really have been blessed to live so many places that you can go to the ocean. I wish I could say the same. It’s good to know you don’t take it for granted.
