a paper heart garland

when we were in west virginia for christmas, one of the crafts Lily really got into was making paper snowflakes with her uncle Scott

and all the paper snowflakes they made ended up looking beautiful as a garland in the girls room

when it came time to make some valentine’s day decorations this past sunday, i suggested heart flakes to Lily and she loved the idea

it was a super easy project and best of all, Lily basically got everything done on her own

what we used:

construction paper. scissors, pen, hole puncher, string, masking tape

happy ARTsy wednesday!!

the first thing we did was make a stencil heart

Lily then used that stencil heart on the orange and red construction paper she chose as her heart colors (four red and three orange)

once the heart had been stenciled, she cut it out

once all the hearts were stenciled and cut out, Lily folded each heart in half and began cutting shapes into them

once all the heart flakes were done, Lily used the hole puncher and punched a hole on each side of the heart

she then used our target dollar red and white string to string all the hearts

once all the hearts were strung, we taped the garland with masking tape onto her bedroom window

et voila!
