before we even moved here, we had been eager to visit the biltmore
and we meant to do so soon after we moved but then holiday season crept up on us
then the snow and really cold temperatures and well, it wasn’t until this past saturday that we finally made it there
it was an absolutely gorgeous spring like day out so it was a perfect day to go and explore the biltmore
it is a huge estate!
so much property and much too vast to do everything in one day
or by foot
we first checked out the horses with the hopes that Lily could do some horseback riding but, to our disappointment, kids have to be the age of eight to do so
we took a drive around the property (everything is so far apart) and ended up close to the restaurants, the petting zoo and the playground
by this time the sun was really blazing and it was quite warm out
Will and i enjoyed a glass of wine on some lawn chairs while a happy Lily ran around in the sunshine before we sat for some lunch
while eating lunch, we spotted one of Lily’s classmates with her parents
now, we don’t know many people still and we certainly don’t know all of Lily’s classmates parents but, we had talked to these particular parents at a few birthday parties and a couple of school events
that said, it felt quite good to be in a new place and see familiar faces
aside from our neighbors, that hadn’t happened since miami
we had planned to go see the main house and explore the grounds some more after lunch but instead we opted to sit in the sunshine with these other parents while the girls ran happily around in the sunshine
it was a much needed happy day spent outside
happy friday and happy weekend friends
ps- thank you for the sweet comments and messages filled with kind words. it felt good to know that i am not alone or going through some major emotional breakdown. or maybe that i am and that is perfectly ok and normal and that we all go through it. thank you!
