While at the supermarket with Lily today, I decided to pick up some Gerber Organic Brown Rice Cereal for Baby. I thought, why not? Let’s try it. I think she is ready.
The box suggests that you mix the cereal with either breast milk (I haven’t pumped so,no), formula (she seems to not like it so, no) or water (can’t hurt). No whole milk until they are around 1 year old.
I filled the bowl with 7-8 tablespoons of cereal, warmed up some water and mixed the 2 together until it was a creamy consistency. Not too runny, not too thick.
I sat Lily in her lounger, put a bib around her neck and gave her the first taste of cereal off the edge of the silver spoon that grandma Hayes gave her for Christmas.
It went down quite smoothly! I dipped the spoon in the bowl and gave her another. She opened her mouth right away when she saw the spoon coming.
She smiled, waved her arms and legs from excitement, YAY! She LOVED it!
She ate it all.
We will continue with the rice cereal for a while as well as breast feeding her and then we will try to mix in some other things like mashed bananas and sweet potatoes.
I am happy that she liked the cereal and is getting ready for food but on the other hand, it just shows me how much bigger she is getting and how my baby is growing up. 🙁
Here is the set up of her first meal Lily eating her first bowl of rice cereal wearing a bodysuit by Old Navy, dress by babyGap and a bib that was a gift.
When we went over to our friend Sara’s house, we saw she had one of these Twilight Turtles for her cutie pie son Sam. When we asked her what she thought of it, she told us how wonderful it was and how much even SHE loved it!
Lily is 4 months old today. I can’t believe it. Time has gone by so fast and yet it seems like I was pregnant such a long time ago.
She is now almost 15lbs and measures 25″.
She can turn over from her back to her tummy and gets super frustrated because she wants to crawl but can’t yet.
She has found her feet and is constantly grabbing them, she loves it when she has no socks on because then she can put her toes in her mouth although apparently she didn’t like the way they tasted yesterday. lol
For the most part she is a serious baby except for when she is home with Will and I and she lets loose.
Her pediatrician told us on thursday that she is as aware as a 6 month old. Go Lily!
Oh, and she’s looking more and more like her daddy Will every day.
Here she is on the 7th of every month . I got a little choked up going through the months.
In November, Lily wears a jumpsuit and hat both by babyGap. In December, Lily wears a bodysuit by babyGap. In January, Lily wears diapers by Pampers and fleece booties by Zutano. In February, Lily wears a dress and tights both by Zutano. Today, in March, Lily wears a bodysuit by Lucky Finn, a gift from our friend Debbie.
On Thursday we took Lily to the pediatrician for her Polio shot.
We know that vaccines are a heated debate. We respect everyone’s personal decision however, we find them necessary. We did choose to do a shot at a time just in case there were some allergies or major side effects. It required more trips to the pediatrician but we felt safer that way.
Ugh, every time we go it breaks my heart but I must say, Lily is SO good that it’s getting easier.
She just hangs out, lets her pediatrician do what she has to do and then when it comes time for the shot, she just cries a little when the needle first pokes her. This time she cried even less than the others. 😉
Here is Lily waiting for her shot wearing shirt, leggings, socks and shoes all by babyGap.
