Hello everyone, welcome to mamas&their babies wednesday!

Today I would like to share with you my beautiful cousin Ana and her baby daughter Teresinha.

As children growing up in Portugal, Ana and I grew up practically living at our great grand mother’s and at each other’s houses. Weekends, holidays, sometimes summers, we were always together. Along with our other cousin Lena.

We were like sisters.

Ana was always the sweetest cousin.

Actually, not only is she still the sweetest cousin but, she is also one of the most naturally beautiful people I have met. She was a beautiful baby, a beautiful child, a beautiful teenager and now she is a beautiful woman and mama.

Mamas & their babies

Hello everyone!

Yes, you read the title correctly, I actually managed to stay true to my word and brought back mamas&their babies like I told you I would last week.

Today I would like to share with you a very dear and important person in my life. My mother-in-law Hayes.

What can I say about Hayes other than I love her!

Since the first time I went to WV in 2007 when Will and I had not even been dating for 2 months, Hayes welcomed me into her home with open arms.

There is not much this mama can’t do. She is an amazing cook, baker, gardener, crafter…

She is a wonderful wife, mama, sister and friend. She is a good listener and good advice giver.

If you know Hayes, you know that to know her is to love her.

Hayes might be my mother-in-law and Lily’s avo but, she is more than that. She is my good girl friend too.

I am truly blessed to have someone like Hayes in my life. She is a true inspiration!

Hello everyone!

As some of you know we are on vacation in Carova, NC. By “we” I also mean “I” because everyone (including Will) is on vacation so I actually get some time off of Lily duty. (yes, it’s work)

I’m also taking a blogcation (a blogging vacation ;) ) because it is time consuming and work but, wanted to tell you to go over to my friend Natasha’s blog Happy Chaos where she talks about raising her cute twins Olivia and Marco.

Mamas & their babies

I met Blair in 2007 on my first visit here to West Virginia.

There was a party going on, eating, drinking, dancing and we hit it off right away.

Who knew that 4 years later we would both have kids?

Blair is a busy mama. Not only does she run a successful restaurant in Hillsboro (Pretty Penny) but, she also has two little ones to take care of.

No matter how busy she is though, she is never too busy to catch up and have some fun.

Welcome to the very first West Virginia mamas&their babies segment!

I would like to share with you my friend Rachel and her baby girl Zara.

I first met Rachel in 2007 on my first visit here to West Virginia and like most of the people I met, she was friendly and welcoming.

Because we don’t live here, Rachel and I only get to see each other a few times a year.

Enough for me to know that even though a bit reserved at first, Rachel is one smart, funny and witty mama.

Mamas & their babies

Today’s mamas & their babies segment is a little different.

Since Lily and I have not seen any mamas and babies that you have not yet met, I have decided to dedicate this post to some of my favorite models and their babies.

These girls are the girls I remember the most since I have been following fashion.

Most of these girls are the reason I shaved my eyebrows, wore dresses on top of jeans with adidas and fat laces (remember Marc Jacobs for Perry Ellis?).

To me, they were all individuals with great personal style who set the trends.

And now, they are all mamas!

Mamas & their babies

Debbie and I went to high school together.

I remember her and her twin sister as nice smiling girls walking through the hallways.

They were both the kind of girls who were friends with everybody and nobody disliked them.

We all graduated in 1991 and that was the last time I saw Debbie and her twin sister Beth.

Facebook however has changed that.

In the past 2 years, I have been able to daily “see” and every once in a while “talk” to Debbie and watch her “chickens” grow.

Debbie was diagnosed with Stage 2 Breast Cancer on February 23 2011.

It unfortunately hit one lymph nod so she has to go through chemotherapy.

She has 12 weeks left, then she will begin radiation for 6 weeks and then she will be on a hormone treatment for 2 years.

I asked Debbie to participate in this segment because not only is she a huge fan of it but, as a mama she is a true inspiration.

The way she bravely fights her cancer for her, her family and most importantly her “chickens”.

So, leave her a comment, I’m sure she would love to hear from you.

Mamas & their babies

Sherrie and I met at the library for story time a little over a year ago.

Both Lily and McCoy were still little babies then.

Sherrie’s friendly, funny and down to earth personality made me warm up to her right away, we exchanged numbers and made plans for future play dates.

We got to know each other for a few more months and then she and McCoy moved to Virginia until recently.

Let me tell you something about this mama, when she says she is going to get something done, she goes and gets it done.

Like getting her MBA… she set out to go get it and she did! (go mama!)

Sherrie and McCoy have been back to Miami now for almost a month and I’m so glad to have them back. :)

Mamas & their babies

I met Marie in 2004 when I started working at Scoop here in Miami.

We worked together for almost 6 years and through that time we became like family. (I call her mommy)

What can I say about Marie other than she is fabulous!!! (when I say fabulous, I mean she is FABULOUS.)

She has one of the greatest fashion senses, always looks fab AND always (like maybe even in bed) wears HIGH heels.

I’m not kidding, when I started working with her, she was very pregnant with Ade and she was on her feet in heels all day long!

But don’t let her fun with high fashion fool you, she is one strict and tough mama.

Both Kemi (now 19 and in NYC in college) and Ade are super well behaved and well mannered children.

You want to know something else fab about Marie?

If you don’t want to hear the truth, don’t ask her.

She always let’s you have the truth, even when you don’t like it.

FABULOUS!
