Thousands and thousands of pictures is what I have of Lily.
But one shot in particular always stays in my mind.
It was taken last year in West Virginia while Lily and I played on the grass in the afternoon like we did many days while we were there.
To think that Lily didn’t even walk yet…
As she heard the leaves on the trees blowing in the wind, she crawled over and attentively pointed her little finger.
It was a moment where as I watched her, I felt like her senses had been awakened.
I did no editing to this photo because I love how it was naturally captured.
Chelsey at The Paper Mama is the hostess to this challenge, go on over and check it out!
Oh, and check it out, we were a favorite last week with the self portrait challenge.
Joining Chelsea over at The Paper Mama for this week’s photo challenge.
This week’s challenge: Self portrait
The self portrait could either be by yourself, with your little one, your pet, whatever.
I chose to do mine with Lily because we were having a “moment” in her bedroom and I wanted to document it.
I was teaching her “nose-to-nose”.
I set it on self-timer and it was taken with our Nikon D3100.
It isn’t the clearest of pictures but I love it and the way it came out.

The theme is Blue.
Here is Lily with blue paint on her nose from one of her painting sessions.
And of course a star sticker. 🙂

This week’s challenge: COZY.
Here is a not even 2 month old Lily in West Virginia napping on the giraffe cushion that avo Hayes gave her that Christmas morning.
Just looking at her in this picture, I want to go snuggle up with her. 😉

This week’s challenge: Black and White.
I love this picture of Lily taken in August in West Virginia.
She was listening to the leaves blowing in the wind.
With her little finger pointing up, it’s like she’s saying “listen….”.
It always stops her.
And she always stops me.

The challenge this week: a hint of color.
Lily’s eyes came to mind right away.
This photo was taken on January 07 2010. She was exactly 2 months old.
Look at her, she was so small!
It hasn’t even been a year yet and my baby has grown so much.
I think I’m going to cry…

This week’s challenge: FINGERPRINTS
I love Lily’s toes. They are so funny and expressive.
This picture was taken while she was napping in West Virginia.

This week’s challenge: EXCITEMENT
Now we all know that Lily is for the most part a serious girl but she does get excited every once in a while.
I have never seen such excitement in her face like the time we went swimming at Whittaker.
It was her first time and she was so excited to be there.
She wasn’t the only one, avo Joao was pretty excited too! 😉

This week’s challenge: favorite body part self portrait.
For me, my favorite body part (and not just on me but on women in general) is the neck, collar bone and shoulders. (I know, those are 3 body parts but they all go together ;))
It’s a part of the body that can show strength as well as vulnerability.
It’s one of the reasons I often prefer short hair to long hair.

This week’s challenge: SELF.
Continuing with my series of bathroom self portraits, this one was just taken at The Sanchez playhouse.
When I was first taking the picture I was mainly focused on the “women” sign and my reflection in the mirror next to it.
“Women”, I thought.
But now looking at the picture, I focus on the strainer for the sink. And I just can’t help but to smile with the symbolism of it all… 😉
