Her art has a far away feeling to it but yet very close and personal.
It’s a “Must”!
This weekend was truly an amazing family weekend. The family was all together and the weather was PERFECT!
On saturday Lily and I took Will to the playground since he is always working when we go. Both Lily and Will got to go on the swings. 😉 It was such a relaxing time for Lily on the swing with the light breeze blowing the leaves on the trees that she fell asleep!
Later in the afternoon we met our friends at Zeke’s on Lincoln Rd. Zeke’s is one of our favorite beer places not just because they have $4.00 beers but also because they are so baby friendly!
After Zeke’s, we had dinner at B&B, the new burger place by our house. Lily was so tired that she fell asleep and both Will and I were able to have both hands free to eat dinner.
Lily slept almost 7 hours in a row saturday night into sunday morning so I was able to get some good sleep as well.
When we woke up sunday morning, it was obvious that it was going to be a beach day. We decided we would head out after Lily’s morning nap since she never sleeps that long.
Well, wouldn’t you know it, of all days, we had to wake her up because she had been sleeping for over an hour.
After walking to uncle Darren’s house, we walked over to the Front Porch Cafe where I had some delicious french toast and Lily had some mashed bananas. It was a delicious and much missed breakfast.
We got to the beach at around 2pm, Lily’s nap time. We set up her little tent and took her over by the water so she could dip her toes. Although she was delighted by it all, she was a cranky Lily and she soon fell asleep in her shaded tent.
She slept for 2 hours! That has not happened in a very looooooong time.
While Lily slept, uncle Darren watched over her while Will and I went swimming. The water was chilly but super blue and clear. I swam around for a bit, something I had not done since before giving birth to Lily.
When a happy and rested Lily finally awoke, we hung out for a bit longer and then it was time to head home for warm baths and pajamas.
It was truly an amazing beach sunday. It was a perfect weekend and we all feel rejuvenated, energized and ready to take on a new week.
Oh! We added avocado to Lily’s menu. She loved it! She now eats rice cereal, bananas, sweet potatoes and avocados. She seems to really go bananas for bananas! 😉
It is bright, light, easy for her to grab from all angles and fun to chew on.
After getting waxed today, my waxer Claudia Macdonald, gave me her business card for her Handmade For Your Baby new online business.
Handmade For Your Baby, is a website that sells the cutest shoes handmade in Columbia.
Handmade For Your Baby shoes are a “Must”!
Here are some of our favorites.
The rice cereal has been such a success with Lily, we decided to add bananas and sweet potatoes to her menu.
Yesterday and today for breakfast Lily had mashed bananas in her rice cereal. I mix 1oz of breast milk with the rice cereal and then add in 1/4 of a banana and mash it all up together.
She loves it! She ate the whole entire thing.
When Lily and I went to Publix after the playground yesterday, we bought some sweet potatoes, I’m a big fan of baked sweet potatoes.
So when it was Lily’s lunch time, I mashed 1/4 of a baked sweet potato with some breast milk and that too was a big success.
It was so exciting seeing the excitment on her face while tasting something new.
Now if only we could hear those giggles again….
Here is a picture of her sweet potatoes serving and a happy Lily eating them.
This orchid has been on the balcony now for quite sometime because it stopped blooming.
It was just leaves for quite sometime. Orchids usually only bloom once a year.
Then, all of the sudden, a stem started growing. And soon enough little buds were growing on that stem.
Lily and I go on the balcony every morning and check on it.
We are SO happy to finally see a fully opened orchid on there. 🙂
Here it is, the first opened orchid with many little buds to follow.
I don’t know how I missed this yesterday but I think I just got so excited with the Slotted Building Discs that I didn’t look much further.
So, today’s “Must have of the day” is a continuation to yesterday’s. Look what else you can do with the discs! You can make mobiles!!!
We’ve been wanting a mobile (hurry up grandma Hayes) and since Will seems to be a fan of the discs, we might be making our own soon.
Made by Joel is a great blog with some wonderful ideas.
These discs are a “MUST”!
Since Lily liked the first swing experience at the park, I decided to take her back yesterday.
We went earlier this time. There was only another mom there with her little 18 month old son and even though it was a cloudy day and it rained on and off while we were there, Lily had a great time trying out more rides at the playground.
I put her in the big blue swing first since she had been on it the day before and once again she liked it. I pushed for a while as she sat there enjoying herself.
Then I decided to put her in the middle swing. She is still a bit little for it but it wasn’t too bad and she did seem to be enjoying it. I guess because she felt like she was a bit more suspended. It was more like a swing.
Lily also rode the swinging dog and the toucan. But of course all she wanted to do was lick them, specially the toucan. 🙂
Later in the afternoon since the day cleared up, we went and sat at the beach and watched the waves for a while.
Another great day.
Oh, we also chased some pigeons around at the park. lol
Here is Lily at the park and at the beach wearing pants and cardigan both by babyGap and a striped shirt that was gift from aunt Sarah.
Just sunscreen is not enough for Lily. She loves being outside and in this Miami sun and heat, a sun hat is a must!
We ordered this one from Zutano and we LOVE it!
It’s light, has a big enough brim that covers all of Lily’s face, it has a tie so it won’t fly or slide off, and the print and colors are super fun.
Today’s “Must have of the day” is with Dexter in mind.
From what I can tell, Dexter is an artistic boy who likes all things creative, artsy and fun. Just like his mom Holly! 🙂
Best yet is the fact that you can download the templates yourself and your little one can do it all himself. A DIY project.
And they can be stored in a small tin so they won’t take up any room. It’s a “Must”!
