This was another item that Will and I did a lot of research on however, I knew that I wanted the Frog. It was just a matter of convincing Will. Being a new parent and all, we were not used yet to the insane prices of certain things.
The Frog is light, durable, folds down well, comes in great colors (we chose orange) and most importantly it came with a bassinet. Lily slept comfortably in that bassinet for the first 2 months of her life.
So thank you granma Hayes and avo Joao!
You can see Lily below totally stylin’ in her Frog.
I feel like Lily changes every day. There are days when she looks more like me, and there are days when she looks more like Will.
Then, there are the moments when I’m holding her and someone will say she TOTALLY looks like me. 15 minutes later, that same person will walk by, Will will be holding Lily and all of the sudden they say she TOTALLY looks like Will.
I’m aware that she is still growing (obviously) and that it is still too early to tell who she really looks like. She has a bit of both.
The top half is me and the bottom half is Will. But the nose. Whose nose is it? I guess we will have to wait and see…
Below is a picture of me at 2 months back in 1973. Below that is a picture of Lily at 2.5 months in the same outfit. (I think she looks like me) 😉
Since today’s theme seems to be about sleep, I would like to mention how much we LOVE our Babyletto Modo crib.
Both Will and I searched for hours on the internet what kind of crib we wanted. We knew that we both wanted very clean, contemporary lines and preferably something eco-friendly. Well, 2 out of 3 is not bad. All the eco-friendly cribs we found were outrageously expensive and out of budget.
Then, we ran into the Babyletto Modo crib. It gave us the look and feel we wanted for way less money. It can also grow with Lily since it’s a 3 in 1 convertible crib.
Lily seems to love it, she has no problem going to sleep in it. 😉
So thank you avo Carmo for getting it for us!
Here she is below in her Babyletto Modo crib. Her jumper is babyGap and the bedding is Skip Hop (we will discuss bedding on a different day. That’s a whole different post. ;))
It seems to me that Lily is getting better at sleeping and at having consistent sleeping patterns.
Now don’t get me wrong, she is NOT much of a napper! But, at least we have a good little routine going.
We finally have night time down. Pajama time anywhere between 7-8pm, we read Goodnight Moon, then she has her last feeding. If she is asleep by 8pm, she will usually sleep until 3am. She will then wake for a feeding, sleep again until 5am when she has another feeding and then will awaken at 7am.
7am is her wake up time. She is ready to go! She is playful and super curious about what the day has for her.I change her diaper, she has a little snack (just a little bit of boob) and we play.
At around 9am she has her big morning feeding and her morning nap. She will usually (is it’s quiet) sleep 30-45 minutes. This gives me just enough time to take a shower and get dressed.
When she wakes, I change her diaper and get her dressed for the day. She has another feeding and out we go on our 1-2 hour walk. She LOVES being outside! When I ask her if she is ready to go out, her arms and legs start moving and swinging like crazy and she gets a big smile on her face.
She will again take another little nap at around 1pm and then another anywhere from 4-6pm until it’s pajama time all over again.
Coming to this routine was NOT easy. The first couple of months were all over the place and I’m sure as Lily grows, her patterns will change but, for right now, I’m enjoying what we have going on. 🙂
I’m including below a picture of Lily in her deepest sleep. She is soooo dreamy!
We bought it for Lily way before she was even born and it was the blanket she came home from the birthing center in. It will always remind me of that day. It has also inspired me to want to do an owl themed room for her when we move and she will get her own room.
It was soft to begin with but it has only gotten softer with use and washing.
Since we slept at uncle Darren’s house last night and will again for the next 2 nights, I thought about how adaptable of a baby Lily is.
She is not even 3 months old and spent almost half of her life at her grandparents in West Virginia, has stayed at 2 hotels for 3 nights, went to Morgantown and slept over at her cousin Adelaide’s house for 2 nights, and now here we are at uncle Darren’s house for 3 nights.
For the most part she just chills during the day and at night sleeps relatively well.
I do however make sure that I always have a few of her toys and definitely her blankets. This way, she won’t feel like she is in a completely strange place.
Adaptability is something I think everyone should have. If you adapt well, most likely you make a good traveler. And traveling, I feel, is the best thing for someone’s growth and we LOVE to travel!
