Thanksgiving 2011

Happy friday everyone! Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving yesterday.

We had a chill but great one over at our dear friends Michael and Robbie’s house.

Good friends, lots of yummy food, drinks, cooler weather (in the 70’s)…

And we got home early enough for Lily to go to bed on time and for me to watch The Godfather in my pajamas on our couch.

Perfect.

I wish you all a lovely weekend and safe travels if you are traveling!

Poncho love

Don’t you just love a good poncho? I know I do!

We were in the mountains of West Virginia far from any Target when the Missoni for Target madness happened.

Auntie K however was in Miami and was one of the people in line early in the morning and didn’t know what she had gotten herself into once those doors opened. lol

As always, she thought of Lily and grabbed her one of the cutest ponchos I have ever seen.

Thanks auntie K for Lily’s first poncho! (Missoni no less)

Lily’s 2nd birthday party

Happy monday everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend.

So, as I mentioned before, we had Lily’s birthday party on saturday.

Our dear friends Michael and Robbie moved into their beautiful new home 3 weeks ago and were brave enough to let us throw the party in their back yard.

Will and I made pasta salad, cheese and cucumber sandwiches, sweet potato chips, shrimp. D made fruit salad. Our neighbor made the cake. There was juice for the kids and wine for the adults.

The weather was perfect. All the kids played together and ran around having fun the whole time.

We may not have family here in Miami but, we are blessed with friends that are like family and most of them came out and helped celebrate Lily’s birthday.

Lily had a great time and that was the most important thing.

Thank you everyone again for coming and for all the wonderful gifts! xoxo

Lily’s 2nd birthday

Yesterday when Lily woke up, Will and I walked in her room together and sang Happy Birthday to her.

Not fully awake yet, she didn’t really know what to make of this birthday stuff we had been talking to her about for days.

Next came the cupcake with a candle, another Happy Birthday was sang and then some presents were opened.

She was so overwhelmed by all the spotlight on her that she decided to share her birthday with Elmo and therefore Elmo turned 2 yesterday as well.

When asked what she wanted to do in the morning, she chose a bike ride to Southpoint park.

She went on the swings, the slide, ran around (with Elmo of course)…

At lunch time I decided to share a birthday tradition of mine and treat her to some french toast, potatoes, eggs and orange juice at Front Porch Cafe.

Once home, we watched Pino-Q!, played in her room and the late afternoon was spent running around on Lincoln Rd in the nice breezy and cool air we have been having.

Lily had calls from WV and Portugal where birthdays were sang to her all throughout the day.

I think she had a great day and she was a very happy 2 year old.

I would also like to thank all of you who left comments on here and of course all of our friends on Facebook for all the wonderful birthday wishes for Lily. Thank you all so much!

so this is what this birthday stuff is all about?

took a little encouragement but she blew her candle like a pro

Portugal, here we come!

Well, I am almost all packed and Lily and I will be taking off to Portugal at 11pm tonight.

This past weekend we went to the beach, spent time with friends and Will and I even managedร‚ย  to go out on a proper date thanks to uncle Darren who came over and babysat Lily.

Yesterday I did 5 loads of laundry, we ran errands and I must tell you that it was a bit of a challenge trying to pack because Portugal is having abnormally hot weather for October. (like almost 90 during the day still)

I wish it could just be cooler there like it’s supposed to be and I could just pack warm clothes as opposed to warm and cool clothes.

But, whatever… we are going to see family and going to meet baby Dicky!

Wish us luck, I’m a nervous flyer…

Happy monday everyone!

A Bryan Ferry kinda night

Bryan Ferry performed here on thursday night.

Unfortunately none of us got it together and got tickets but, we had a Bryan Ferry and 80’s music dance-athon at Darren’s house.

It was a super fun night!

Here are some cell pics of what I wore. (sorry no pics of us dancing. i was having too much fun ๐Ÿ™‚ )

P.S.- Can I just also say that every time I put on a pair of ripped whatever, I am always reminded of my late grandfather who when I was 16 tried to give me money so I could go buy some pants with no holes. It’s funny how some things always stay with you…

Jungle Island

When I was around 5 years old, my mom took me to the zoo in Lisboa.

That night, I had the worst nightmares!

I dreamt that all the animals had broken free and were running wild, all the snakes were slithering all over my body, the gazelles were jumping over me, the elephants and lions were running… it’s a dream that I can still visually remember.

I have kept away from zoos or anything like them since then, even when I lived in San Diego and had one of the best zoos near me.

On saturday, auntie K got us some free VIP passes to Jungle Island so, we couldn’t pass them up. (thank you K!)

Despite not being a fan of seeing animals in cages, it was wonderful to be able to show Lily animals she has only been able to see in books.

The birds were her favorites, the monkeys and the pink flamingos were my favorites. ๐Ÿ™‚ (I finally got to see pink flamingos after being in Florida for almost 10 years!)

Happy monday everyone, hope you all have a great week!

Ola

Friday night I helped K do some shopping, we had a great dinner at Ola and went dancing at Purdy!

While getting ready for the night, I had some wardrobe issues.

Do you guys ever look into your full closets and yet feel like you have nothing to wear?

That is how I felt while I was getting ready so… I just decided to throw on some of my favorite items and hoped that they would work.

Lily on the other hand, got a new Mimosa shirt in the mail and of course had to put it on right away. (thank you Holly and Ariel!)

Bad teacher, a girl movie date

I’m loving my weekly (or almost weekly) dates with K.

This past wednesday we went to see Bad teacher.

We snuck in some champagne and chips (what, you don’t? you should) and enjoyed Cameron Diaz in a funny performance.

After the movie we had some pizza and wine and afterwards headed over to K’s house where we had the most fun playing with all her clothes.

It was so great trying to see what I could come up with in someone else’s closet.

We both decided that pencil skirts and head scarves are definitely the way to go for this fall. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Awesomeness

Kristin and I went out for a little happy hour friday night.

After a few awesome lychee martinis and some sushi, we decided to explore some of our favorite stores on Lincoln Rd (Anthropologie and CB2) and go look at some awesome art.

All and all a pretty awesome night.
