Birds of a feather, flock together

After lounging at home for a while, yesterday late afternoon even though it was raining, we decided to go for a drive to Coconut Grove and maybe eat somewhere we had never been.

I got lily dressed first and after I dressed myself, I realized that I dressed myself like her.

Or did I dress her like me?

Either way, we had the same look going on.

Before heading out, I asked Will to take our picture and while he was doing so, I noticed he had birds on his belt.

“Birds of a feather, flock together” I thought to myself.

The three of us seemed to all have something that went with the other. πŸ™‚

With Yelp’s help (do you guys ever use it? we love it!), we ended up eating at the Peacock Garden Cafe. (perfect but not planned for our bird theme).

It was lovely to be able to sit outside under a big awning looking and listening to the rain and thunderstorms.

Once it cleared up, a rainbow appeared and the sky looked the most beautiful I have seen it in a while.

Hope you all had a great saturday as well.

Friday family happy hour

Friday late afternoon when Will got home from work, we both had the same thought in mind: family happy hour.

So, the 3 of us quickly changed and headed out the door.

Before the rain came, we got to walk around Lincoln Rd a bit and have a drink.

I had an Orange Blossom Pilsner which I had never tried before but loved!

Hope you are all enjoying your weekend. πŸ™‚

Madewell and Andiamo

On thursday night Kristin and I went to the Madewell store opening on Lincoln Rd.

Are you all familiar with Madewell?

It’s owned by J Crew and it’s basically a less expensive (but not cheap) line.

There was a DJ playing old classics by Wham! (hello I love you!) and Hall&Oats, there was grilled cheese, mojitos (strawberry, yum!) and frozen popsicles.

I chose to wear a Mango dress I bought back in 2009 when I was pregnant with Lily.

Although I love this dress, I hadn’t worn it in a while (probably since I had Lily) because it always makes me feel pregnant. (does that happen to any of you with the clothes you used to wear when you were pregnant?)

Kristin and I had a great time and I think the Madewell store is a great addition to Lincoln Rd.

A girl date

Wednesday night I had a dinner and movie date with auntie K.

I left Will and Lily playing in the pool and auntie K and I headed over to Books&Books for dinner and then to the movies to see The Tree of Life.

The food at Books&Books was great as always (love that place) but the movie???

I feel like I didn’t get what I wanted.

Don’t get me wrong, I love artsy flicks more than your average person but, I feel like The Tree of Life was trying too hard. (as well as having too much science/discovery channel scenes)

I also feel like every movie I have watched lately has no ending and I’m tired of “make up your own ending” kind of movies.

Have any of you seen The Tree of Life?

What did you think?

Blueberry pancakes, a suit and a yellow house

We had quite the busy day yesterday.

Well, not that busy, it just felt that way because we left the house and it wasn’t even 10am and got back at 5pm.

We started off the morning with our traditional saturday pancake breakfast.

Lily ate 3 pancakes this time. 3!!! (really?)

We stopped off at Old Navy to get Lily a proper swimsuit and then at Men’s Wearhouse to get Will a proper suit as well.

It was almost 2 when we were done and we were all starving.

There was a Chipotle near by and that’s where we stuffed our faces.

I had never eaten there before, it was pretty good.

At 3:30 we went to look at a house we went to look at last saturday.

It has stayed in our heads and I think we pretty much love (want) it but I don’t want to talk about it too much because I’m superstitious that way.

Just keep your fingers crossed for us please!

Lily’s small style

This past week was filled with dresses for the most part because it is getting hot out!

Small style… you know who completely blows my mind?

Stella McCartney!!

Not only is she my favorite women’s designer but once she had her own kids, she started a design a line for kids.

Have you all checked it out?

Take a LOOK, it’s insane!!!!

I loved the line she did for Gapkids, it was a bit pricey but I did manage to grab the sweetest little dress for Lily on sale for $12.99. (the monday picture)

It’s labeled as a 3T but it’s obviously not.

It’s by far one of my favorite dresses that Lily has at the moment.

What are some of your favorite children designers? (even if you can’t afford them πŸ˜‰ )

As always I am linking this small style to Mama loves Papa.

The laziest of saturdays

Memorial Day weekend here in Miami Beach is a bit crazy.

It’s a weekend where people from all over come and take over the beach and the locals either leave town or don’t leave home.

So, with Will a bit hungover yesterday and with the beach invaded by out of towners, we ended up having the laziest of saturdays.

We stayed home, had pancakes for breakfast, watched movies, played, went swimming in our pool, napped…. with the exception of walking to our local bodega for some ice cream, we really didn’t leave the house.

It was great!

How is your weekend going?

Graffiti style

It is days like yesterday that make Will and I look at each other and say “I am so glad we decided to stay inΒ  Miami”.

We spent the morning at the beach and in the afternoon we went for a ride in the car to check out all the graffiti in Wynwood. (I have been wanting to go back and take pictures for a while)

We walked around, checked out some awesome graffiti, took pictures and found the Wynwood Kitchen and Bar where we decided to sit outside and have some dinner.

Let me stop for a second and tell you about the Wynwood Kitchen and Bar, I have never eaten at a place with SO much AMAZING art all around.

AMAZING! (and the food was pretty good too)

So, where else could we live where we could have the beach and awesome urban city life also?

Miami, we are so happy we stayed. πŸ™‚

This post is picture heavy because not only was there amazing art everywhere but, I also want to show you “my” Miami.

Not the Miami The Real Housewives of Miami show you. πŸ˜‰

A clutch story

After I did the post “A DASHing evening”, Ellen commented on how she wanted to see more of my clutch.

I have been trying so hard to remember where I got this clutch.

If I tell you that I have had it forever and that saturday night was the first time I wore it, you probably won’t believe me but, it’s the truth. (I think I have had it longer than 10 years)

I either got it at the Lincoln Rd market or at a vintage store but EVERY time I went to wear it, I always felt like it was too big.

On saturday, once I put on my purple jumpsuit (that I hadn’t worn since I was pregnant with Lily in 2009), I knew that I wanted to wear red shoes.

I love the combination of purple and red together.

I decided to wear the red platform sandals I had not worn since I met Will in 2007.

So, the outfit was almost complete except for the bag.

I wasn’t sure what bag to wear, I didn’t want to wear the gray satchel I usually wear or the pewter clutch I tend to go to at last moment.

I reached deep into my accessory drawer and brought out the red clutch.

It was its time to shine. πŸ˜‰
