Despite the fact that my hair is still falling out like crazy, that my body is still not quite like it once was and that I only got up to go for my morning walk twice, I am feeling much more like myself and much better these days.
We went to the beach the past 2 weekends and let me tell you, it really helped. The sun, the beach air and the salt water do wonders.
It also helps that Lily has really taken to solid food so she sleeps longer during the day and during the night. I don’t feel as tired as I used to.
Last thursday night I got to go to dinner with my old co-workers and it felt wonderful to be and feel like Claudia again. I left after giving Lily her dinner and a bit of breast feeding and it was all good!
I knew that what I was going through wasn’t going to last forever but, I’m sure glad that I acknowledged it, felt it, dealt with it and now it has vanished.
This weekend was truly an amazing family weekend. The family was all together and the weather was PERFECT!
On saturday Lily and I took Will to the playground since he is always working when we go. Both Lily and Will got to go on the swings. 😉 It was such a relaxing time for Lily on the swing with the light breeze blowing the leaves on the trees that she fell asleep!
Later in the afternoon we met our friends at Zeke’s on Lincoln Rd. Zeke’s is one of our favorite beer places not just because they have $4.00 beers but also because they are so baby friendly!
After Zeke’s, we had dinner at B&B, the new burger place by our house. Lily was so tired that she fell asleep and both Will and I were able to have both hands free to eat dinner.
Lily slept almost 7 hours in a row saturday night into sunday morning so I was able to get some good sleep as well.
When we woke up sunday morning, it was obvious that it was going to be a beach day. We decided we would head out after Lily’s morning nap since she never sleeps that long.
Well, wouldn’t you know it, of all days, we had to wake her up because she had been sleeping for over an hour.
After walking to uncle Darren’s house, we walked over to the Front Porch Cafe where I had some delicious french toast and Lily had some mashed bananas. It was a delicious and much missed breakfast.
We got to the beach at around 2pm, Lily’s nap time. We set up her little tent and took her over by the water so she could dip her toes. Although she was delighted by it all, she was a cranky Lily and she soon fell asleep in her shaded tent.
She slept for 2 hours! That has not happened in a very looooooong time.
While Lily slept, uncle Darren watched over her while Will and I went swimming. The water was chilly but super blue and clear. I swam around for a bit, something I had not done since before giving birth to Lily.
When a happy and rested Lily finally awoke, we hung out for a bit longer and then it was time to head home for warm baths and pajamas.
It was truly an amazing beach sunday. It was a perfect weekend and we all feel rejuvenated, energized and ready to take on a new week.
Oh! We added avocado to Lily’s menu. She loved it! She now eats rice cereal, bananas, sweet potatoes and avocados. She seems to really go bananas for bananas! 😉
Here is Lily on saturday wearing a bodysuit, pants and shoes all by babyGap and hat by Zutano. And on sunday wearing a Polo bodysuit that was a gift from Margeaux and hat by Zutano.
I know we’ve done a post on one of our favorite Zutano dresses and tights but, after Lily wore her little hat by Zutano to the beach yesterday, I realized how much we LOVE Zutano (we get ours from babysupermall.com).
Everything is made of super soft cotton, great colors and prints, easy fit and affordable. We LOVE it!
Today was our first official beach day. Sure we have been to the beach for walks and to look at the ocean however, today we brought towels, the beach tent that was a gift from Katie and Jason, sunscreen (Lily wore BananaBoat Baby spf50), toys.
It’s winter here in Miami so the beach is windier and the ocean colder and rougher than usual but that didn’t keep us from having Lily dip her feet in the water.
She seemed to have enjoyed it. She should, I sure spent enough time at the beach and floating in the water when I was pregnant with her.
She looked around, slept in her tent, was breastfed. All without crying. She’s not much of a crier any way so I should say all without screaming.
We stayed for about an hour. All in all, I think we had a successful first day at the beach and hopefully many more to come!
