Birds of a feather, flock together

After lounging at home for a while, yesterday late afternoon even though it was raining, we decided to go for a drive to Coconut Grove and maybe eat somewhere we had never been.

I got lily dressed first and after I dressed myself, I realized that I dressed myself like her.

Or did I dress her like me?

Either way, we had the same look going on.

Before heading out, I asked Will to take our picture and while he was doing so, I noticed he had birds on his belt.

“Birds of a feather, flock together” I thought to myself.

The three of us seemed to all have something that went with the other. πŸ™‚

With Yelp’s help (do you guys ever use it? we love it!), we ended up eating at the Peacock Garden Cafe. (perfect but not planned for our bird theme).

It was lovely to be able to sit outside under a big awning looking and listening to the rain and thunderstorms.

Once it cleared up, a rainbow appeared and the sky looked the most beautiful I have seen it in a while.

Hope you all had a great saturday as well.

Linking up to Mandy for Steppin’ Out.

No slave to fashion

Last friday I joined auntie K and some of her co-workers for happy hour at Doraku.

I decided to wear one of my favorite Zara pants.

I purchased them in 2009 when I was pregnant with Lily, wore them throughout my pregnancy and I still wear them all the time.

I read in either Elle or Bazaar that harem pants should be “stored away”.

You know what though?

I can’t store them away.

I love my harem military pants and no matter what fashion says, I will continue on wearing them.

Do you have items like that?

Items that you love so much that even though fashion says “store away” you can’t?

Graffiti style

It is days like yesterday that make Will and I look at each other and say “I am so glad we decided to stay in  Miami”.

We spent the morning at the beach and in the afternoon we went for a ride in the car to check out all the graffiti in Wynwood. (I have been wanting to go back and take pictures for a while)

We walked around, checked out some awesome graffiti, took pictures and found the Wynwood Kitchen and Bar where we decided to sit outside and have some dinner.

Let me stop for a second and tell you about the Wynwood Kitchen and Bar, I have never eaten at a place with SO much AMAZING art all around.

AMAZING! (and the food was pretty good too)

So, where else could we live where we could have the beach and awesome urban city life also?

Miami, we are so happy we stayed. πŸ™‚

This post is picture heavy because not only was there amazing art everywhere but, I also want to show you “my” Miami.

Not the Miami The Real Housewives of Miami show you. πŸ˜‰

Mommy Style Update

Last friday was such a long, crazy but fun day for me.

I spent the day at the Fairchild Botanical Graden with Lily, Darren, Zura and Lien.

Came home at around 6pm, quickly took a shower, got dressed and was out the door at 7pm to meet up with Kristin and Nilsa for a fun girl’s night out.

We had drinks and then headed over to the New World Center for a great orchestra with a DJ performance.

It was a great show and the new Frank Gehry space is unbelievable!

Mommy Style Update

Last night was a monumental night.

Lily stayed with a babysitter (my friend Jocelyn) and I went to my first hockey game. (first sports game ever actually)

Jocelyn came over at 5pm and Will and I left at 6.

We had a great time at the game and Lily had a great time with Jocelyn. (thanks Jocey!!)

Here’s what I wore.

Mommy Style Update

I’m obsessed with a touch of HOT pink lately.

I’m still searching for the perfect shade of pink lipstick but until then, this GapKids belt (yes, it’s kids) will do.

Sunday late afternoon we went over to Max’s house for a delicious meal that he and his mom made.

He lives a bit north of us right on the water and has the most beautiful view out of his balcony.

We had a great night.

Mommy Style Update

I’m a jeans girl.

Jeans and dresses really.

I like skirts (I have 2 to be exact) but, whenever I go to put them on, I always just put on a dress or pants/jeans instead.

I have stayed true to my jeans through all these years.

Going out with my girls who I used to work with, means “look your best”.

We all worked retail, we all have our own personal style and when it comes to dressing, my girls are NO joke!

Everything I wore out last night with the exception of the vest (1 year old), I have owned for many years.

Doesn’t it feel great when you can pull something together from things in your closet that you have had for years (and years and years)?

vest- UO (on sale for $9.99!)

Mommy Style Update

I’m trying to get back into fashion because I have missed it. (don’t worry, it is still a baby blog and there will still be a lot of Lily pictures)

I’m trying to actually get “dressed” every day like I used to before Lily was born.

I feel like I have become quite lazy about dressing and taking care of myself so, I figured this will at least make me motivated.

It might not be a daily post, or it might , either way, here’s the debut of MOMMY STYLE UPDATE.

Today: The classic white shirt.

Everyone has done it.

Mine is actually a pajama top that was hanging in my closet so I thought “why not?”.

Lily and I went to the library, to lunch and to the post office and this is what we wore:
