Lily had her first Basel experience last night and what a great night it was!!
At the hotel W (by far my favorite hotel on the beach at the moment. it is fabulous!!), she saw her first Andy Warhol, Jean-Michel Basquiat, George Condo, Damien Hirst, Kenny Scharf and she also took a much needed power nap.
She saw her first live concert. Metric rocked!
And….. she met Perry Farrell!!!!! 🙂
Yup, we caught him at the Townhouse Hotel on his way out.
He was more than happy to chit-chat with us a bit and even pose for a picture with Lily.
At the National hotel we were blown away by Miguel Paredes’s art. I think his was Lily’s favorite since his art is super bright, the eyes are huge and there were lots of birds.
This morning after Lily had her cereal, I decided to head off to the beach. It was 8:30a.m. when we left the house and our feet were on the sand by 9a.m.
It was a bit cloudy this morning which was perfect. Not too sunny, not too hot.
Our walk down Lincoln Rd was just lovely. Nice and quiet. The only noise was of birds chirping.
Once we reached the beach, I was so glad that we had taken off early and that we were there. There was hardly anyone around.
The tide was out and the ocean was perfectly still reminding me of this time last year when I was pregnant with Lily.
Darren, Will and I would meet up on Lincoln Rd on our bikes around 7:30a.m., ride to the beach and then Darren and I would go for a power walk along the water while Will would do some Thai Chi. We would then do some swimming around before heading back home and then off to work.
I can’t believe that I now have Lily here and I can do the same with her. 🙂
Lily and I played in the water for some time (she loves it), we sat on the sand and looked around for pretty shells.
Afterward, it was time to come back home, shower, eat and of course after all that….take a nap!
What a perfect way to start the day!
Here we are just this morning at the beach. Lily wears a hat by Patagonia that was a gift from avo Hayes and avo Joao and a romper by babyGap.
Lily and I were out of the house by 9:15a.m. on our way to the library for some story and singing time but as we kept walking, the sky got darker and darker along with some sprinkles coming down.
I decided that it would be better to not risk going all the way there and it’s a good thing I did because it started pouring 5 minutes after we had returned home.
We did manage to stroll for a good hour and we saw some flowers that we had not seen before, some piu pius (little birds for babies in Portuguese) and some fish in the new Lincoln Rd water features (or ponds if you will).
Here are some of the flowers, piu pius and fish we saw. I really loved these first orange ones. They look like they are made out of tissue paper.
