A father’s day

Yesterday started with letting Will sleep in a bit.

Since Lily helped wrap Will’s presents, she was anxious to wake him up and have him open his father’s day gifts.

We lounged around the house for a while, had coffee, and then headed over to Clarke’s for brunch. (we went there last year for father’s day also)

They offer dads a free bloody mary on father’s day. πŸ™‚

We ate, we drank, we laughed, we took a drive to show uncle Darren “our” house, we napped…

There were plans to go to the beach after nap time but it finally rained so we stayed in and watched movies.

No complaints from this pai. πŸ™‚

I hope all of you dads had a great day also and happy monday to you all!

What made you happy today?

On thursday I found Mandy’s great blog What made you happy today? through her other amazing blog 16house. (if you don’t know 16house, I don’t know what ugly rock you have been living under)

I had just come back from having brunch with Lily and after a few days of being under the February blues, I just had to share my happiness with Mandy.

Mandy featured my happiness today. πŸ™‚

Go take a look here.

Thanks Mandy!

A mommy and Lily lunch date

After the library yesterday, Lily and I went on a short bike ride along the beach.

It was such a beautiful day out it felt like a shame to go straight home.

As we rode and as it got closer to lunch time, I realized that Lily and I had never been on a lunch date by ourselves.

Sure we have eaten out with Will and friends but never just by ourselves.

So, I decided to treat both her and I to brunch at the Front Porch Cafe.

Afterward, we stopped at the new New World Symphony Frank Gehry campus.

We had a lovely time. πŸ™‚ (and I felt less like a zombie and more like me)

Today we are leaving for Pine Island (on the west coast of Florida) to go visit friends from West Virginia for the weekend.

Have a great weekend everyone!!

Auntie K’s birthday celebration

I have known auntie K since 7th grade. (yeah, that’s a long time!)

After high school we lost touch for a bit only to be reunited back in NJ in 1994-5.

She then moved to Denver and we lost touch again.

Well, we were reunited again here in Miami Beach in 2004.

Since 2006 we have been neighbors because we live in buildings next to each other.

She is one of my dearest friends.

On saturday we had an all day brunch here at the house in her honor.

Perhaps the last time we will celebrate her birthday all together here in Miami as neighbors. πŸ™

Sunday brunch

Going to brunch on sundays has become one of our favorite things to do as a family during the weekend.

We usually go to the beach early in the morning first and then to Front Porch, our usual beach breakfast spot however, this sunday since Lily had not been feeling great the last couple of days, we decided to skip the beach and try out a new breakfast spot.

We ended up in midtown at this place called S&S Diner. It was super small with a horse shoe shaped bar with stools and that was it!

The food, the people  and the atmosphere were awesome!

The place has been there since 1938 and I think the waitresses too! πŸ˜‰ They were old school!

The food was nothing fancy but really good and inexpensive.

Lily got to taste some yummy french toast and home fries. She loved it.

We had a great time.
