Car sleeper

When I was little, whenever you would put me in a car, I would fall asleep.

Actually, I still fight hard to not fall asleep whenever I’m in a car.

Something about the motion of the car, the sound, the sun warming your skin… I could fall asleep right now.

Saturday afternoon we went to Hollywood to celebrate uncle Dave’s birthday.

Both Will and I tried to make Lily nap at home because we knew it was going to be somewhat of a late night but of course she didn’t.

Instead, she fell asleep in the car.

Surprisingly enough though, I got her out of the car, carried her through the building, through the back where the party was happening, plopped her on a beach lounger and not only did she not wake up but, she slept for a whole hour.

It’s a good thing she slept because we only left at 10:30pm.

No public park? No problem!

Before coming to Portugal, knowing how much Lily loves the park, I would day dream about sharing Beja’s public park with her.

I spent many of my days as a child there and have such wonderful memories from it.

Beja’s public park is not too long of a walk from my parents house.

Lily and I walked there the other day only to be sadly disappointed by its closed gates. 🙁

It is being renovated and has been closed for over a year. (awful!)

Once we returned home, avo Ricardo took us in the car to a great new park right outside of the city.

Even though we can’t walk there (that’s part of the fun), it’s worth the drive.

There was a playground, there were ancient olive trees, there was water, there were bridges and there were ducks!!

Lily loved the ducks! 🙂

There’s something about Lily

On saturday on the way to the Miami Children’s Museum (pics of that tomorrow), while in the car, I gave Lily a honey wheat pretzel.

She loved the pretzel!

She loved it so much, I think she wanted to share it with her hair.

When I turned around to check on Lily, her hair that had once been slicked back into her headband, was sticking straight up.

I couldn’t help but think of Cameron Diaz in “There’s something about Mary” and LMAO!! 🙂

see the pretzel paste in her hair?

Home sweet home

Well, we are back in Miami!

We actually ended up leaving on sunday instead of saturday because we brought aunt Sarah with us. Yup, we adultnapped her. 😉

After a very, very long drive mostly during the night, we finally arrived at around 2:00 pm yesterday.

Lily was sooooooo good, she slept almost the whole entire time!

When we got home, we had the nicest welcome from auntie K who had made welcome signs for us and bought fresh flowers for our empty vases. She also took very good care of our plants while we were away.

Thank you auntie K! You are the best!!

We already miss West Virginia but it also always feels good to be home…

Road trip

We decided to leave to West Virginia thursday night instead of friday like we were supposed to.

We were so anxious that we just quickly packed, loaded up the car and drove away!

It was a long but smooth ride. Will drove straight pretty much the whole way.

We stopped for an hour nap somewhere in South Carolina but that was pretty much it.

Lily did really well. She’s so good.

We arrived yesterday afternoon and it feels sooooooo good to be here. 🙂

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend. We are having a great time with our family. (lots of pictures to come)

Little pointer

Lily has been quite the little pointer these days.

She points at everything!

She points at mommy, daddy, trees, cars…

She doesn’t necessarily say anything.

She just sticks her little finger out and points. 😉

First taste of rain

Lately every time Lily wants to step out to the balcony, she crawls over to the sliding glass door, waves her hands up and down and looks at me.

I know what this means already so I pick her up and out to the balcony we go.

Lily’s favorite thing to do once she is on the balcony is to be on a lap leaning against the railing (don’t worry, she is held tight) and look out to see what is going on in the neighborhood.

She watches the cars going by, neighbors walking their dogs, the birds flying by (loves them) and watches the leaves in the trees blow in the wind.

There we all were yesterday enjoying the late afternoon on the balcony when it started pouring! Typical weather for Miami this time of the year.

As it started pouring, Lily was leaning against the railing and little drops of rain began to lightly sprinkle her.

Just like when she showers, she reached out with her delicate little fingers to try to catch the rain and her little tongue began to reach out for the droplets of water as well.

It was the cutest thing ever watching Lily have her first taste of rain.

She loves water!

Here is Lily on the balcony yesterday catching and tasting rain. Lily wears a onesie that was a gift.

Ugh! hair EVERYWHERE!!!!

My hair is everywhere! All over the floor, all over my clothes, all over my brush, in the car, in the bed, EVERYWHERE!

It’s falling off in hand fulls. Every time I wash it, I’m surprised I come out with hair still on my head.

When I was pregnant with Lily, my hair was at its best. Long, shiny, full and it never EVER fell off.

I know this is what happens after giving birth, your hormones change once again and even though prenatal vitamins are still being taken, there is nothing that can be done. It just needs to happen.

I wish I could get my pregnant hair back…..
