Black friday shopping madness

Happy saturday everyone!

Yesterday Darren and I went to Sawgrass Mills Outlet Shops for some shopping. (his suggestion)

Have you guys ever gone shopping on the infamous Black Friday? I never had.

I knew there were going to be tons of people. And there were.

I was however not prepared for the amounts of shopping people were actually doing.

I thought we were in a recession?

It was crazy! It was madness!

People had shopping carts and big suit cases filled with shopping bags filled with stuff.

There were HUGE lines to get into certain stores and people were waiting!

At the end, Darren definitely walked away with some big bags filled with goodies. Me in the other hand, walked away with a small bag. (I was a good girl)

I bought some fun things as stocking stuffers for Lily and cousin Adelaide, a few knitted hats for myself (cause you know i love those), some much needed yoga/chill out pants, a top and a pair of black skinnies.

It was a long day of shopping but a really good day. Darren and I are great shopping partners.

What about you guys? Did you shop, did you decorate the tree or did you have a lazy day?

Here are some pics of the madness and of me trying on sunglasses. (i was tempted but again, i was good!)

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Sawgrass Mills, one of the largest. and yes, we basically did it all!

Missing her Adaide!

Happy monday everyone, hope you had a great weekend.

We spent ours in the car driving home from Carova, NC but made it here safely.

Lily did great the whole drive and the one thing we heard the most out of her mouth was: “Adaide, where are you?”

She is totally missing her cousin Adelaide and how could she not? Those two little girls spent every waking (and sleeping) moment together.

It’s so hard and so sad to think that the next time they will see each other will be around Christmas time.

We have to be thankful at least for today’s technology and hopefully they will get to Skype.

Oh to be far away from family… 🙁

Friends… a photo challenge

Lily and cousin Adelaide in Carova, NC wearing matching dresses that were hand knitted by a family friend.

These little ones are 2 years apart but I’m pretty sure that this summer they became besties and created a bond they will hopefully have forever.

Joining Chelsey at The Paper Mama with this week’s photo challenge: friends.

My dearest Lily,

Yesterday was an emotionally hard day. For everyone, including you.

Your sadness did not go unnoticed.

After I packed up the house toys in the duffel bag that they came in, you quietly went back to them, unzipped the bag and by yourself played with the toys one last time as if to say good bye to every each one.

When I went to change your diaper, quiet tears came running down your face and you wanted to be held. As I tried hard to fight back my own tears (unsuccessfully might I add), I tried to comfort your sadness.

It is not easy to have to leave family behind. Especially after having been together for a while like we just were.

I know that you will terribly miss your Hayes (avo Hayes), your avo (avo Joao), your Sasa (tia Sarah), your daddy (tio Jud) and your dear Adaide (cousin Adelaide).

But know this my dearest Lily, not only will we soon be with family in Portugal but, we will soon be home and D, K and all of our other friends will soon help to fill in that void.

I love you my dear sensitive child,

all together. september 2011

Mamas & their babies

Hello everyone!

As some of you know we are on vacation in Carova, NC. By “we” I also mean “I” because everyone (including Will) is on vacation so I actually get some time off of Lily duty. (yes, it’s work)

I’m also taking a blogcation (a blogging vacation 😉 ) because it is time consuming and work but, wanted to tell you to go over to my friend Natasha’s blog Happy Chaos where she talks about raising her cute twins Olivia and Marco.

Natasha has joined me with the Mamas & their babies segment. If any of you would like to join with the segment, just link back to me and let me know.

Hope you are all having a great week!

Funny faces

Happy monday everyone!

We are in Carova, NC and having a wonderful time despite the last 2 rainy and windy days.

The cousins, Lily and Adelaide are together again and they couldn’t be happier. (see funny faced pictures below)

It’s wonderful being together with family in this big house right on the beach where you can hear the ocean all day long and see the wild horses run right up to the house.

I am taking a little blogging break. Until next time!

Two cousins and a toad… small style

Last saturday, while playing with Lily and Adelaide in the yard, I found a baby toad.

Lily had never seen a real one before, she had only seen them in books and had stories about them read to her.

She loved the tiny toad! She giggled while it hopped, she was not afraid and wanted to hold it. She even kissed it!

And it’s thursday so, as always linking up to Morgan, the hostess of Small Style.

P.S.- Happy September everyone!

knitted hat- H&M, gifted by uncle Ricky&Anabela. sweater, shirt and leggings- gifted by avo Carmo. socks- babyGap. moccasins- Minnetonka

she kissed it! :/

Snowshoe beach

Well, lol, Snowshoe doesn’t have a beach but, if it did, Shavers lake would be it.

Will and I decided to take Lily and Adelaide there yesterday.

After some rainy days, yesterday was one of the warmest and sunniest days here since we have arrived and we had a great time.

We had a picnic, we swam (well, the girls did), we rented a paddle boat and paddled around…. fun times!

DJ Lily

Lily received this hand me down toy from cousin Adelaide last august in West Virginia.

We brought it with us to Miami and it’s one of those toys she plays with at least once every day.

I always think she looks like a little DJ because as she carefully presses the buttons and the music comes out, she dances.

I can’t help but cheer her on I mean, look at that smile! 🙂

Oh, and that side hair sprout? Ridiculous!

Fancy Lily

Lily has become quite fancy of the beads that are in the toy chest.

They used to be cousin Adelaide’s favorites.

At first when we would put them on Lily, she wanted nothing to do with them.

She wanted them OFF!

But now?

She puts them on and takes them off all by herself.

One can usually find Lily parading around the house with at least 1 strand of beads on.

If not all! 😉
