Must have of the day

With the heat already here and the summer around the corner, there are a few daily “Musts” we can’t leave the house without!

Sunblock. We use Banana Boat Tear Free SPF 50. Not like we have tried any others but this seems to work really well. It lasts, and it definitely is tear free since I have accidentally gotten it in Lily’s eye while applying it.

Sun hat. Lily has 2 that she uses. One from Old Navy and the other from Zutano. The one from Zutano has a bigger brim so it has better sun protection. We use that one more now. ( I had read in a review that the Zutano hats ran a little small so I ordered 6-12mths for Lily a while ago. I’m glad I did. She is going to be 6mths in 3 days and we will probably have to get her a bigger size soon.)

Swim Diaper. I looked at plenty of bathing suits for Lily but, there is nothing cuter than a naked baby at the beach so she doesn’t own one. We did get her a Kushies Swim Diaper and it is great! Kushies offer swim diapers in many different colors and cute prints. And they are washable! πŸ™‚

Here is Lily wearing both her Kushies and her Zutano hat at the beach.

Diaper update. You didn’t think we had settled, did you?

It took many different diaper trials, leaks and messy, runny spills but we finally found them!

We had been using the Pampers Baby Dry and we liked them, they did the job. We never had any leaks or runny spills  however, they always had that funny “Pamper” smell.

Then, this week we finally decided to try the last one on the list. We finally ordered the Huggies Pure&Natural diapers from Diapers.com.

They are wonderful! They last all through the night without leaking. There have been no messy, runny spills but, since Lily started eating food, there are no runny poops anymore. There are solid poops now! (I would take a picture but everything has its limits, no? ;))

The Huggies Pure&Natural are just what they say they are. Pure&Natural! They are made of organic cotton, they are hypoallergenic, they have aloe and vitamin E, no funny scents, no dyes, they are soft! And….with the exception of the faint Winnie The Pooh print, they are almost all white. Isn’t that what a diaper is supposed to be, white?

YAY! We have finally found them. The Huggies Pure&Natural win. The diaper war is officially over.

For now anyway. πŸ˜‰

Here is a happy Lily in her Huggies Pure&Natural.

Things we LOVE!

Hope this helps Jennifer (aka Chloe’s mommy)!

After doing much research on diaper bags while still pregnant with Lily, my co-worker Valerie mentioned to me how much she loved her Skip Hop diaper bag even after having it for 3 years.

Will and I checked into it and we liked what we saw, so we ordered one.

We ordered the Duo Double in the uptown stripe print at first and once it arrived, I tried it on and felt like I was going on a weekend getaway. It was far too BIG but we LOVED the print and quality!

We returned the Duo Double with no problem and got the smaller size (I should have listened to Will from the beginning ;)), the Duo in the same uptown stripe print.

We LOVE it!!

It is roomy enough inside, we always carry a blanket, a change of clothes, 4 diapers, at least 1 toy and has plenty of pockets outside for my cell phone, camera, wallet, water bottle (I don’t really carry a handbag anymore).

What we LOVE most about it is its new feature. Skip Hop added 2 small straps inside the top of the bag so it clicks close to the stroller handle. LOVE it!!!

We also got the swipe wipe case and that works great as well. And it kind of matches. πŸ˜‰

Another diaper update

We went through the Huggies Little Snugglers quite fast. There was one major leak accident while we were out. Something that had not happened with the Pampers Swaddlers.

What diapers to use next? We opted for the Seventh Generation in size 3.

They are definitely very “green” and earthy. They’re not nearly as soft or cute as the others but they do the job. Unlike the reviews we read, Lily did not get any diaper rash although they seem to not absorb the number 2’s as well.

However, because they are so “green”, I feel like I’m packing Lily up in cardboard and shipping her somewhere every time I change her diaper.

As environmentally friendly as I like to be, I think I will stick with either Huggies or Pampers. And because we are so “green” in so many other aspects of our daily lives, I don’t feel like I will go to “green” hell for it. πŸ˜‰

Here is Lily in her Seventh Generation diapers. The only thing cute about these diapers is….Lily!

Ok, diaper update

So, Lily has now been using the Huggies Little Snugglers for exactly 24 hours and so far no leaks or spills. Not that we had any leaks with the Pampers….

I’m not sure about the way the Huggies smell. They definitely have a scent to them once they are wet. I can’t quite put my finger on it…wet card board maybe?

Not to sound too gross but I also feel like the Huggies insulate the smell longer when Lily passes gas. (I hate to call her out like that but it does happen. ;))

One thing I do miss about the Pampers is the yellow strip that slowly turns blue as the diaper gets wet. It lets you know how wet the diaper is.

To me the Huggies Little Snugglers are OK. Not great, not horrible. Just OK.

Once this batch of Huggies Little Snugglers is done I think I would like to try the Seventh Generation and the Huggies Pure and Natural. And maybe even go up a size to 3 for 16-28lbs. It seems like she is outgrowing the size 2.

One thing is for sure though, Lily is just as cute in her Huggies as she was in her Pampers! πŸ™‚

P.S.- The shipment from Lucky Vitamin placed on the 8th has not yet arrived. Can you believe that!!?

And the search for new diapers continues…

Last week I wrote a post about DIAPERS where I expressed interest in diapers other than Pampers.

I was so happy that we had found gDiapers on Lucky Vitamin for a good price. Well, today is the 17th and they have not yet arrived.

Lucky Vitamin has proven to be the WORST online service I have yet used to date.

Not only have the gDiapers not yet arrived but, they sent the refills first and then the gPants. Is that not like having the peanut butter and jelly but NO bread?

I am so annoyed at the fact that Lucky Vitamin hasn’t delivered that I’ve given up on gDiapers altogether. Going forward, I will continue to order diapers from Diapers.com. They deliver within 2 days without any special shipping fees.

So, because we needed diapers, Lily and I walked to Publix, our local super market and picked up a box of the Huggies Little Snugglers size 2.

I just changed her diaper and put her in the new Huggies.  I’m not sure….

The Huggies Little Snugglers feel more paper like than the Pampers which feel a lot softer to me.

Also, the Huggies are a bit smaller than the Pampers even though they are both size 2 for 12-18lbs.

I am however very curious about the pocketed back waistband that the Huggies have in order to “help keep in runny messes”.

We shall see, only time and Lily will tell. πŸ˜‰

Because Lily looks so cute in her diapers, here she is wearing Pampers.

Things we LOVE!

Red! As in the painting I did.

Lily LOVES Red.

Every time we are in the bedroom changing her diaper or playing, Lily can’t take her eyes off of Red. She smiles real big at her and, in her own Lily way, even talks to her.

Here is Lily only 3 days old with Red in the background.

Diapers

Where should I begin????

When I was still pregnant with Lily, Will and I discussed and did research on many different options for diapers for Lily once she was born.

Cloth diapers maybe? Both Will and I were raised on cloth diapers and although times have changed, many new moms have started using them again. For us however, because we don’t have our own washer and drier in the apartment, it didn’t seem like the right choice.

Environment friendly diapers like Seventh Generation? Maybe. But, then I read the worst reviews about them. Sure everyone liked the fact that they were “green” but complained about fit, leaks and diaper rash. I didn’t want that for my Lily.

At the end, it was between Pampers and Huggies.

We chose the Pampers Swaddlers which we really liked up until lately. When Lily was smaller, there were few leaks or spills however, it seems that every time she goes #2 now, if we are not right there to change her diaper, it either spills from the back or from the legs. It is horrible!

So, we are back to the beginning. Which diapers now?

Shall we try Huggies? I wish Diapers.com would have a value pack of different diaper brands in the same pack so you could try and see which one works for you.

Well, after much research again, we have both decided to try the gDiapers. They are a bit more expensive but I like the fact that they have a gPant that covers the either cloth refills or the  flushable diaper refills which happen to not only be flushable but you can also garden compost the wet ones. So they are “green”!

I found that LuckyVitamin.com had the best deals in both the gPants and the refills.

Wish us luck! πŸ˜‰
