the light of the beginning of a new day
Joining Chelsey over at The Paper Mama with this week’s photo challenge: Fall.
We live in Miami so we don’t really get to experience Fall.
Sure the weather cools off a bit at night, the humidity is not as high but there is no changing of the leaves.
This year when we went to Portugal in October, I was so looking forward to Fall only to have record highs and the longest summer yet.
So, the only bit of Fall that we have had this year was when we were in West Virginia in September.
That’s when this picture was taken.
P.S.- For those of you who are surrounded by beautiful trees changing colors, I’m a bit envious.
We are now on the beach in the outer banks of NC but, before we left WV, we went to our little friend Willa’s 2nd birthday party and let me tell you guys something…. it was cold!!
We were in WV for a month and the weather totally changed from late summer to early fall.
Even though fall is my favorite season, after living in Miami for 10 years, I am so out of practice of how to dress for colder weather.
I mean, I knew by the time we would be leaving WV the weather was going to be much cooler (30 at night) but, I totally packed WAY more summer clothes than I did fall clothes.
I did manage to pack a pair of knee socks and knee high boots and luckily enough I had something to go with them.
I always thought I was a pretty good packer but from now on I need to pay more attention and perhaps actually plan outfits. For me and for Lily. 😉

Happy monday everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend.
Autumn is around the corner. The temperature and the leaves have changed since we got here to West Virginia.
Autumn has always been one of my favorite seasons, not just because of the changing of the leaves and the cooler temperatures but, because of its fashion.
I love Fall fashion! All the sweaters, scarves, tights, boots…
Zara is one of those places that has been good to me for over a decade now. It always fits me well. From shoes, to coats, to pants. It usually all works.
So, I logged on a few nights ago to see what they came up with for Fall-Winter of 2011.
As usual, they didn’t disappoint. There are beautiful coats, trousers, skirts, dresses… and I love their color palette!
Then I checked the girls collection.
Oh my, it is wonderful!
Here are a few of my favorite picks. For Lily of course. 😉
What do you think? Do you have a favorite?
Last day of Fall Fashion. Booooooooo 🙁
It is a windy sunday here in Beja, Portugal.
It will be a chill day. Will is here (YAY!) so we are just hanging out and spending time together.
I had SO much fun this week!
It was really wonderful visiting new as well as some old blogs and getting to know you lovely ladies through your personal style.
Since we are in Portugal and there really is no Halloween here, we are not dressing up.
However, with my Portuguese Sagres beer I CHEER all of you.
I’m wearing: Headband by CVS, Earrings are vintage (you’ve seen them this week already), Scarf by Scoop NYC, Grandpa cardigan sweater by GAP, T-Shirt by Gap, Tank underneath by Gap, Jeggings by Gap (since when did I become a GAP mom? not that there is anything wrong with the Gap, obviously, but still!!!), and moccasin/shoes by Boutique 9.
Oh! And Lily went to the cafe with Will so there are no pictures of her but she looks cute! 😉

Another grey, cold and rainy day here in Beja, Portugal. (it’s ok really, we have had beautiful weather up until now)
We are going to Lisboa to pick Will up at the airport in a little while and we are super excited!!! (we have never been apart for this long)
My inspiration today is the painter Gustav Klimt. He is one of my favorite artists and when he painted he always wore a long smock.
My tunic isn’t necessarily long 😉 but, it reminds me of the painting smocks I used to wear in pre-school.
What I’m wearing: Knitted hat by Urban Outfitters, Earrings by Anthropologie, Tunic by some random Portuguese label, Shirt underneath by Forever 21 (31 😉 ), Tights by some other random Portuguese label, Bag by Zara, Booties by French Connection (they’re baaaaack!!!)
It is a windy, grey, cold, rainy day today.
If I were to go out I would wear this:
Jacket/coat by Anthropologie (gift from Will), Dress by Forever 21 (or Forever 31 as I like to call it), Shirt worn underneath by French Connection, Tights by H&M, Boots by Matisse (surprise! I wore different ones today 😉 )
How about that?
You get no stripes and no jeans/leggings from me today.
The temperature dropped a bit this morning so it was nice putting on warmer clothes.
You are getting a profile shot from me (it’s better than frontal anyway) because Lily slept horribly last night (she’s sick). Which meant that I slept horribly last night and have a tired face once again. (I don’t know about you winning Allie)
What I’m wearing: Knitted hat by Gap, Earrings (same as yesterday) are vintage, Long sweater cardigan by Zara, Dress/tunic by French Connection (it’s probably 6 years old but I still always wear it and love it), Tights (my faves, I love how they are cable knit and have colored specks) by Steve Madden and…. Booties by French Connection (yes, it’s the 4th day in a row that I’m wearing them. I might wear them the whole week! 😉 )
