Lazy family day

Yesterday was by far one of the laziest family days we have had in a long time.

I know that many of you were out and about shopping black friday deals however, we stayed in our pajamas and did not leave the house ALL day.

We ate, ate, watched tv, ate, napped, ate, ate, watched tv, slept.

It was wonderful!!

Thanksgiving

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving yesterday.

Despite us not being with family and having some dear friends away, we had a great holiday.

We collaborated with our next door neighbors.

He’s a chef so he cooked 2 turkeys, mashed potatoes, broccoli, baked fresh organic bread.

I made the stuffing Portuguese style this year (it’s called migas in Portuguese which is basically fried stuffing) as well as organic cranberry sauce.

It was my first time making the stuffing this way.

As a child, I watched my great grand mother make it at least once a week.

It turned out awesome!

Lily enjoyed herself by playing with all the adults and cat at the party and eating all the delicious food.

Happy black friday everyone! Happy shopping and have a great weekend!

Thankful on Thanksgiving

On this Thanksgiving (and every day really) there is so much that I am truly so thankful for.

Here is a short and sweet little list.

I am thankful for Will. He is the best husband, my best friend, and such a wonderful father. He always talks me into reason the right way. I’m not easy. I can be loca sometimes. 😉

I am thankful for my blue eyed cheeky-cheeky Lily. I would have never known this kind of crazy, unconditional mad love if it wasn’t for her. (and Will also)

I am thankful for my family. When I say family, I mean my blood family and the family I married into. I love you all so much and am ever so fortunate to have you all in my life.

I am thankful for the wonderful friends I have. Some are close, many are far but nonetheless, you are all so supportive and full of love.

I am thankful for our good health.

I am thankful that I get to be a stay at home mom to Lily, to watch her grow and not miss a second of it. (thank you Will!)

I am thankful for the roof over our heads. Although I get frustrated with our living situation many times, I am completely aware that there are many who don’t have a roof over their heads.

I am thankful for the food on our table.

I am thankful to this blog which has given me the opportunity to share my experiences and meet so many other moms who I would have not had a chance to meet. What a great support system!

And although silly, I am thankful for Facebook. It helps me keep in touch with family, friends that live close and far and reconnect with long lost friends.

I told you I would make it short and sweet. (time to eat!)

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

Lily last year on Thanksgiving. she was only 19 days old. what a difference 1 year makes!

Our last day in Portugal

Today was our last day here.

It was a relaxing day spent mostly at home with family coming by to say their goodbyes.

Days like this are always hard for me.

I’m not good at saying goodbye and it seems to be getting harder as I get older.

The longer the stay, the harder it seems to say goodbye.

I keep thinking about my parents the next few days (they are always the hardest) without Lily to wake up to.

This makes me sad…

We had a great month all together and I’m so thankful for that.

Can’t wait until we can all be together again.

These photos were taken at the park yesterday. We got one last sunset at the park. 🙂

Lisboa

Well, Lisboa is really the last place that I have to show you from our trip here in Portugal.

There really isn’t even that much because we didn’t spend a lot of time there this time around.

We really wanted to see Sintra. Which we did and it was amazing!

However, we did get to see the Torre de Belem right after the sun set and we got to do some shopping and walking around the Rossio the following morning before returning back to Beja.

I hope that you all have enjoyed the tour of our trip here in Portugal.

Today is our last day here 🙁 so it’s all about the packing and spending our last hours here with family.

Lily’s 1st birthday

For Lily’s birthday yesterday, we had a small family birthday party for her at tia Tete’s house.

As always there was lots of food and tons of sweets.

Lily walked more than ever yesterday.

She was all over the yard and the house all by herself.

We sang happy birthday to her both in Portuguese and in English.

She was all about the cake, the blowing of the candle, the opening of all the wonderful presents that she received and wearing the beautiful dress that uncle Michael gave her a while back.

It was a wonderful day.

I can’t believe she is 1. She is officially a toddler…

I will let the pictures speak for themselves. Picture overload again. 😉

Avo Carmo’s birthday

It was my mom’s birthday yesterday.

Tia Tete organized a big lunch at her house with the whole family. (only tio Ricky and Anabela were missing 🙁 )

The lunch started at 12:30pm and when we left it was 9pm. LOL

It was an ALL day event.

Everyone had a wonderful time just spending time together enjoying the present and reminiscing about the old times.

There were also exciting news… prima Ana is pregnant! 🙂 We are all soooooooooo happy for her and Nuno.

P.S- if these ALL day eating events continue, I will need some fat pants because I sure won’t fit in my skinny ones.

Tio Ricky’s birthday party

My brother turned 30 on thursday.

Yesterday after we picked Will up from the airport, we drove to Evora to go to his surprise birthday party that his gf Anabela, her family and friends threw for him.

The party took place at an old grain house.

The grain house is part restaurant, part museum.

Lily was miss social butterfly the whole night.

She played, ate, laughed.

We didn’t get home until 1am!

It was a great turn out, we all had a great time.

WARNING: this post is picture heavy. but then again it’s not every day I celebrate my brother’s birthday at an old grain house with family and good people all the way around.

Happy November everyone!!!!

Moura and Amieira

Yesterday was a great family day. (it’s not that often that we are all together)

We all (my dad, my mom, tio Ricky, Lily and I) headed out early (10am) in the morning.

We drove around at first not knowing exactly where to go until we decided to head over to Moura.

Moura is a small town (not even considered a city) about 30-45 minutes north of where my parents live.

Once there, we walked around, we had lunch, we took Lily to their great park. (the best one so far actually)

On the way home, we stopped off in Amieira (also a small town) and checked out their new marina.

It was beautiful there!

An open landscape of water, hills and blue sky.

All and all a really wonderful day.

(Sorry, it’s picture overload again!! 😉 )
