Mommy Style Update

Happy saturday everyone!

Yesterday was a nice cool day here in Miami, we were having a “cold” front.

Lily and I met up with Claudia and Sofia at Fritz’s bike shop so we could get Claudia all set up with a bike and a child seat.

It didn’t turn out so well.

The child seat didn’t suit the bike she had purchased and Sofia fell off the bike and hit her forehead on the cement floor. 🙁

Thankfully she is ok, she is a strong little one.

Today we are going 2 hours north to visit our good friends who have come from L.A. to see family and baptize their little Sisto. (what to wear?????)

Hope you are all having a great weekend!

A sunday in Raleigh

Yesterday we checked out a few more houses, the farmers market (awesome!), the mall but, since it was a rainy day (and our last one here), we mostly spent it at home with family.

We are going back home to Miami this morning but are leaving Raleigh with a good feeling and sense about this town and can’t wait to return.

Hello from Raleigh!

We are having a great time with family here in Raleigh.

We drove around all different neighborhoods yesterday and looked for “for rent” and “for sale” signs. (not that we are in the market to buy but to suggest renting from those owners whose homes have not yet sold)

We have narrowed it down to 2 neighborhoods where we can really see ourselves living in.

5 Points and Mordecai.

The first even more than the second. It looks to me that there is a great community of young families in 5 Points.

Raleigh looks beautiful this time of year.

You can tell Spring is near, the trees are all blooming!!

Once we move here, it will definitely be a change from Miami but, in the long run a good change. 🙂

Sundays are my favorite!

I love sundays.

We lounged around the house in the morning and watched cartoons.

Will made us pancakes.

We video chatted with avo Carmo and avo Ricardo.

We went on a bike ride to the park and to SouthPointe.

Had lunch on the balcony.

Took a family nap.

Read books, played and watched the Grammy’s.

Sundays are my favorite! 🙂

P.S.- And can I just add that yesterday was absolutely gorgeous here in Miami? GORGEOUS!!

An evolution of 3

I can’t believe Lily has been in our lives now for almost 15 months.

Sometimes I can’t even remember what our lives were like without her.

Looking back at these photos brings back so many wonderful memories and emotions.

The beginning, the 3 of us getting to know one another.

A family but yet strangers in a way.

And then somewhere along the way all of the sudden it just all clicked and it just all made perfect sense.

We started knowing one another as individuals but also as a family.

It’s an evolution of 3.

There is nothing better. (except maybe some day an evolution of 4. 😉 )

november 18 2009 (Lily was only 11 days old)

Being sick with a child sucks!!!

I have been sick for the last two days.

Two days ago I had diarrhea. (sorry if tmi)

Yesterday at around 1pm, I started feeling dizzy, nauseous and started vomiting.

No, I’m not pregnant.

I obviously caught some stomach bug.

All I know is that while I was vomiting into the toilet (for the 4th time) with Lily standing in the bathroom doorway looking at me, I couldn’t help but to think: “this sucks!!!!”

It’s times like these that I wish I had family around.

Someone to just take Lily so I could just be sick without feeling guilty for not being 100% for her.

Thankfully Will was around and took care of Lily and me. 🙂

I’m a bit better today but not completely there.

Sorry, this is a photo less post.

I was too sick to take pictures.

Be thankful!

My dearest Lily,

With moving becoming more and more of a reality, I worry if this is the right move for our family.

I worry if this is the right move for you!

I feel such pain in my heart and such guilt when I think about taking you away from your friends and everything you know.

I’m aware that you are just 14 months old and you will adjust to just about any situation but, I just can’t help but to worry.

When I was little, I was moved around a lot and I hated it.

Constantly having to make new friends, getting to know new places, having to constantly adapt…

I hated it!

I hope that Raleigh will be the right place for us.

I hope you will be as happy there as you are here if not more.

I hope we get a house where you can grow into and have the same friends for a long time.

Roots are important.

I feel like I never had them.

Maybe that’s why it’s so important for me to give them to you.

Just know that pai and I always have the best intentions and your best interest in mind.

Love you,

your mama.

here you are with Dylan and Sofia (your best friends) at the neighborhood park

here i am on my 6th birthday with all my neighborhood friends. we moved when i was 8 and then when i was 10 and then again when i was 14 🙁

New beginnings

One of my new year resolutions was to paint more. (and to dance more also)

And paint is just what I got to do on saturday.

Will took Lily over to our friends Dave and Tricia’s house and I got to paint ALL day long!! (thank you Will, Dave and Tricia! 🙂 )

It has been an inner struggle for me to give up family time on the weekends in order for me to do things like paint but, I have realized that I MUST do it.

It is good for me, it is good for my soul. 😉

Here is my new painting, FALLEN STAR. (if you would like to see more of my art, you can go here)
