Two saturdays ago we did the ART walk in the design district and had a great time!
There were tons of people out, live music on the streets, lots (and I mean LOTS) of amazing art everywhere, it was a wonderful evening spent with Will, Lily and uncle Darren.
At one of the galleries, I was introduced to
Charles Pfahl‘s work.
Charles‘s art is not typically something that I would be attracted to (I tend to like pretty art, the world can be an ugly place as is) however, days after seeing his works, I still couldn’t get it out of my head. (that’s what good art is supposed to do, right?)
Archetype still haunts me.
As an artist I envied its size, its detail, its muted colors.
As a mother, I was not emotionally prepared to stand before it. I literally shed tears as I stood there.
It’s not every day that art affects me like that.

All those heavy feelings just came back to me all over again.
Let me bring it back to the light and fun side with some pictures from that night.

Lily’s passport arrived today.
She can finally go visit her family who so anxiously awaits to meet her in Portugal in September. (now all we need are tickets)
Go Lily, Go!
And on that note, HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE! I will be meeting up with one of my best friends who I have not seen in more than 3 years.

Yesterday was a bad day but today is a new day and a good day. That’s the way it goes, right?
Will took Lily to the park yesterday afternoon and it gave me almost 2 hours by myself.
It was just what I needed. Some “alone” time. (thank you Will!)
As I sat here feeling sorry for myself, I could hear my mom in my head.
Had she been here yesterday (she’s still alive and well thankfully, just not here), she would have told me to woman up!
So you know what?
I felt it, verbalized it, got through it and carried on!
P.S.- I want to thank my family, friends and mommy bloggers (you know who you all are) who showed some major support to the way I was feeling yesterday. Thank you!

Going to brunch on sundays has become one of our favorite things to do as a family during the weekend.
We usually go to the beach early in the morning first and then to Front Porch, our usual beach breakfast spot however, this sunday since Lily had not been feeling great the last couple of days, we decided to skip the beach and try out a new breakfast spot.
We ended up in midtown at this place called S&S Diner. It was super small with a horse shoe shaped bar with stools and that was it!
The food, the people and the atmosphere were awesome!
The place has been there since 1938 and I think the waitresses too! 😉 They were old school!
The food was nothing fancy but really good and inexpensive.
Lily got to taste some yummy french toast and home fries. She loved it.
We had a great time.

I just realized yesterday was monday and I didn’t post our “Monday outdoors picture”! (I thought I was forgetting something…)
Well, I have to say that watching Lily playing at the beach with Will on father’s day was one of my favorite outdoors moment with her. And him.
Not only were we there to celebrate him for the wonderful father and husband that he is but, also to celebrate us as a family.
Here is Lily splashing in the waves. Yes, she’s the naked baby at the beach. 😉

Yesterday while we were at the beach enjoying a lovely sunday afternoon, I looked at Lily and couldn’t believe how big she is already and that she will be 6 months old in a few days.
I started thinking about May 2009. What were Will and I doing then?
We were pregnant then. We were just about 3 months along and loving every minute of it!
At this time in May 2009, we didn’t yet know that it was a Lily in the belly but we sure wished for one! Will and I would spend hours and hours daydreaming out loud about what this baby would be like.
We were set on Lily for a girl name but, we would spend hours coming up with boy names. It’s a good thing it ended up being a Lily since we came up with some scary boy names. lol
Then as I sat there on the sand, I started thinking about May 2008. What were we up to then?
In May 2008, it hadn’t even been a year since we had been together and we were in Barcelona on the way to Portugal so my family could meet Will.
A smile came over my face at how totally different the last 3 Mays have been in our lives but how wonderful also.
Can’t wait to see where we are next May! 🙂
Here we are in Barcelona in May 2008. And here in Miami in May 2009 and May 2010. Lily wears hat by

We finally got some family pictures printed and inside the Sassy Photo Album we got for Lily and we all LOVE it!!!
Inside the album we have pictures of family that Lily has met but hasn’t seen in a long time and of family that Lily has not yet met.
There is a picture of avo Carmo, avo Hayes, avo Joao, avo Ricardo, uncle Jud, aunt Sarah, tio Ricky, Anabela, cousin Adelaide, aunt Desiree and prima Ana!
We know there is lots more family on both sides but, there were only 8 slots. 😉
Love you all!!!

I am a huge fan of decorative pillows but have never seen anything like these.
I was looking through
Inhabitots (like I often do) and found these Eco-friendly Family Pillows by Handmade by Studio K. They are the best!!
You choose the most similar characters to resemble your family from over
38 different options, select the pillow size and designate the placements of the family members.
How great is that?
Family Pillows are a “Must”!!

Since family is far and Lily is a baby, pictures are important.
Manhattan Toy Photo Book from Fat Brain Toys, Lily will be able to hopefully remember and recognize some of her family members when she meets them again.
Remembering family? It’s a “Must”!
