Happy weekend!

Lily was so sick yesterday.

She had a fever and was mushy all day long, I think it was teething related because there was no vomiting or diarrhea and she is back to her normal happy and peppy self today.

I am amazed sometimes how fast little ones recuperate!

And…. even though she was sick yesterday, she managed to let me know that she had to poop and she pooped in the toilet for the first time!! (I’m so proud of her)

This weekend we will be going to storage to grab our luggage, visit with friends we will not be seeing for a while and start packing for our month long trip to West Virginia. (we will be leaving on thursday)

I am so excited to see family and to breath fresh mountain air! (dreaming of sleeping with the windows open already)

Hope you all have a great weekend! 🙂

Here are some silly cell phone pics.

Happy birthday uncle Darren

Yesterday was uncle Darren’s birthday and it was supposed to have been quite the celebratory evening out with a few friends.

Unfortunately it ended up being not as celebratory and our balcony with chinese food.

On the way out while in the car, Lily started vomiting and running a fever.

We came home right away and she vomited a couple more times and then passed out.

Happy birthday uncle Darren and sorry… we love you!

P.S.- Lily is still running a bit of a fever this morning but feeling a bit better.

Old Lisbon

Our weekend trip to Pine Island got canceled due to Lily having a fever and not feeling well again. (I really hope for her sake and ours that her molars come in soon)

We took our time lounging around the house this morning and then ventured out to Sunset Place.

We walked around, I checked out F21 and then we searched for a place to have lunch.

As we walked down the street, we came across Old Lisbon.

Old Lisbon is a Portuguese restaurant that has been around for a while and that I have heard a lot about but, had never checked out.

We decided to go in and have a taste.

The food was ok.

Not great, not bad, just ok.

Both Will and I had a lot of fun reminiscing about Portugal and comparing Old Lisbon’s food to my mom’s. (it didn’t even compare 😉 )

Hope you are all having a wonderful saturday.

15 months old stats

Lily went to the pediatrician for her 15 month check up yesterday.

She measures 31.5″ long. (75% above average)

She weighs 23 lbs. (average)

She has a bunch of teeth coming in.

With the exception of a light ear infection in her left ear, she is all good!

She was supposed to have gotten shots but will get them in 2 weeks when we go back to check on her ear.

One thing I learned, teeth don’t cause fever.

Ear infections that come with teeth, cause fever. (that explains the fever she had last week, poor baby)

We are putting garlic drops in her ear 3 times a day instead of doing antibiotics right away. (we always like to try the homeopathic approach first)

Here she is in the waiting room.

ooooooooooo, a new book!

All better!

I was exhausted yesterday.

After two awful nights with Lily, I was like a walking zombie. (I really do need my night sleep)

We ended up going to the library in the morning after all.

Lily didn’t have much of a fever and she seemed in good spirits.

Once we got back home, I tried giving her some lunch but she still didn’t have much of an appetite.

I checked her fever and it was back up to almost 101.

Because she was cranky and in pain, I decided to give her some Ibuprofen before putting her down for her nap.

Well, it was the worst nap she ever took!

She woke up 4 times in the first 45 minutes of being asleep.

Then, woke up again twice in the next hour.

Every time she woke up, she was crying and cranky.

I know that when she wakes like that she isn’t ready to be awake yet so I kept on putting her back to sleep.

She finally slept for an hour straight and when she woke up she was her regular chipper self.

She woke up a whole different person.

Whatever was going on, I think she finally fought through during her crazy 3 hour nap.

She had a great lunch after her nap, we went to the park, she had a great dinner (YAY! her appetite is back), she went to sleep at her regular time and slept until 6am this morning.

Looks like she is all better. 🙂

“A touch of pink”

Yesterday we went to our friend Max’s baby shower.

His friend Jennifer had the shower for him at her amazing house which is right on the water.

Max is a daddy to be.

His little baby girl Emma is due on March 10th.

The theme was a “touch of pink” and everyone and everything looked great!

We had a great time and although Lily was awesome, both Will and I could see that she wasn’t feeling great.

Once we got home we took her temperature and sure enough, she had a fever.

Either her teeth are getting the best of her or she is coming down with something.

It was a hard night with her last night. Fever all night long.

We are going to take it easy today and monitor her.

WARNING: picture HEAVY post!

Dear neighbors

Nights have been challenging around here lately.

We were just getting through some tough nights of sleep boot camp when Lily started getting sick. With a cold that gave her a stuffy nose and a cough and then a high fever, we now have to start ALL over again.

It’s not easy!

There is lots of fake crying, screaming and then some real crying involved but, it must be done.

We live in an apartment in a small condo building. We have neighbors all around us!

Lily is the only baby in the building. Everyone loves her.

Our neighbors have never complained about anything. Some of them even claim they can’t hear Lily. (they must be deaf or sleep like a rock)

It helps that the walls are cement instead of sheet rock however, there is NO way that our next door, upstairs and downstairs neighbors can’t hear Lily.

So, after two horrible nights of no sleep, I decided to have Lily write a note and post it in the elevator where everyone could see it.

I think it was well received because someone even wrote a “get better” note on it. 🙂

Crazy mom alert!!

Yup, that was me at Lily’s pediatrician’s office yesterday.

Let me tell you why and try to justify it.

Yesterday was the second day in a row that Lily had been having fever. For the past 2 days, her fever had been up and down from 100.7 to 102.7! (FYI, while most moms are made to think that 102.7 is a high fever, to most doctors it is only considered a medium fever.)

When her fever reached that high of 102.7 and Will looked at me and said: “Let’s go see Dr. Salinas.”, I knew things were serious. (I’m always the one who wants to go see Dr. Salinas.)

I called the office and of course I forgot that the whole office closes for a lunch hour. (how stupid of me) Have you ever heard of such a thing?

So, I emailed Dr. Salinas letting her know that Lily had a high fever and that we were on our way to see her.

Once we got there, and entered through this door,

Stuffy Lily

Lily has the worst runny and stuffy nose right now. (not sure if it’s because she is teething or if she caught a light cold)

The last 2 nights and days have been really hard and challenging.

I feel so bad for her (and us). Every time she falls asleep, she wakes shortly after because she can’t breath due to all the mucus.

It’s horrible!

Last night she woke up a bunch of times and was running a fever so, we finally gave her some infant Ibuprofen.

It helped. She finally got some much needed sleep.

All she wants is to be held and to breast feed.

Hopefully she will get better soon.

HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND EVERYONE!! (and if you can, please keep on voting. thank you! ;))
