A week in small style

Do you ever feel like dressing your little one rather than yourself?

I think this past week was like that for me.

I have been feeling tired and like I look horrible.

AND… kids clothes for the most part are often so much less expensive than adult clothes that it’s just easier to get Lily dressed than myself.

Here is a week of Lily’s small style.

What do you think?

Do you have a favorite?

And as always I’m linking this to Mama loves Papa.

Weekend fun

We had a mellow but super fun weekend.

We went for walks, out to eat, took naps, slept in.

Lily has been using her little legs and arms a lot lately.

Standing up, sitting back down, wanting us to walk with her.

She also loves to wave her arms up and down to dance. This is something Will has been practicing with her in the mornings. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Here are some of our fun moments caught on camera.

ARTsy wednesday

Two saturdays ago we did the ART walk in the design district and had a great time!

There were tons of people out, live music on the streets, lots (and I mean LOTS) of amazing art everywhere, it was a wonderful evening spent with Will, Lily and uncle Darren.

At one of the galleries, I was introduced to Charles Pfahl‘s work.

Charles‘s art is not typically something that I would be attracted to (I tend to like pretty art, the world can be an ugly place as is) however, days after seeing his works, I still couldn’t get it out of my head. (that’s what good art is supposed to do, right?)

His painting Archetype still haunts me.

As an artist I envied its size, its detail, its muted colors.

As a mother, I was not emotionally prepared to stand before it. I literally shed tears as I stood there.

It’s not every day that art affects me like that.

All those heavy feelings just came back to me all over again.

Let me bring it back to the light and fun side with some pictures from that night.

Lily’s first 4th of July

We had a great 4th of July.

It was a rainy sunday so we relaxed most of the day by taking turns napping.

At around 6pm, uncle Darren and auntie K met us here at home and we all headed over to our friendย  Nilsa’s barbecue.

Nilsa lives right on the water so it was the perfect set up to watch the fire works. The view is amazing.

Lots of people showed up and there was lots of food and drinks to go around. It was a great turn out.

Once it got dark, the buildings downtown looked beautiful all light up in the patriotic red, white and blue. It was double the pleasure with all of Miami’s skyline reflecting on the water.

The fire works were great and everywhere!

Two different spots downtown were throwing them at the same time and then once they were over, we could see the ones on the beach as well.

Lily was mesmerized! She loved all the colors and sparkle.

She got to stay up a bit later than usual but it was worth it. It was her first 4th of July! ๐Ÿ™‚

Must have of the day

Library mondays!!!!!

If you are a new mom like myself and do not have many mommy friends like I didn’t, you should really check out what kind of free programs your town has to offer.

On mondays our local library does story telling and singing for babies until 18 months old for free! (They also do it on tuesdays and thursdays but from 18 months- 3 years old)

I have met some great moms through the library and Lily has met some awesome babies to play with.

Free and fun programs that your town has to offer? It’s a “Must”!

Here are some fun shots of Lily at the library yesterday with her friends. Lily wears a jumper by babyGap.

Things we LOVE!

Even though Lily can get around quite well with her slithering crawl, she is not fully pleased with that. She wants to walk!

She LOVES to be standing up and walking around. (My back doesn’t quite love it as much since I’m the one bending over to help her).

Here are Lily’s feet on some fun grounds lately. (We also LOVE her little feet, even when they are dirty. ;)) Lily wears a romper, a jumper and a dress all by babyGap.

First beach day. 01-30-2010

Today was our first official beach day. Sure we have been to the beach for walks and to look at the ocean however, today we brought towels, the beach tent that was a gift from Katie and Jason, sunscreen (Lily wore BananaBoat Baby spf50), toys.

It’s winter here in Miami so the beach is windier and the ocean colder and rougher than usual but that didn’t keep us from having Lily dip her feet in the water.

She seemed to have enjoyed it. She should, I sure spent enough time at the beach and floating in the water when I was pregnant with her.

She looked around, slept in her tent, was breastfed. All without crying. She’s not much of a crier any way so I should say all without screaming.

We stayed for about an hour. All in all, I think we had a successful first day at the beach and hopefully many more to come!
