Lily, the little Baselista

This is the third year that Lily has been going to Basel.

In 2009 she was only 1 month old and I think I only got to take some short walks with her.

Last year, we checked out art both during the day and at night. She was still small enough to carry in a sling.

This year she has only experienced it during the day because she is too big for a sling and yet it is a big hassle to deal with the stroller with these many people around. Either way, her bed time is 7pm.

Yesterday (and this morning) we went over to Collins park to check the public art that is out for everyone to enjoy and some pop art at a gallery on the corner of 21st and Collins that has start troopers on the balconies. (not sure of the name)

Lily really enjoyed being able to touch and walk around all the public art and her fave? The super BIG Mr. Potato Head at the gallery. (of course. so much that we went to see him again today)

I have said this on here before but, I just think that it’s so important to expose kids to art.

Tomorrow I think we will go to Art Miami so come back to check out some more Basel.

Happy weekend everyone!

New style inspiration

Happy tuesday everyone!

Let’s talk about fashion and what is inspiring you to get dressed this fall/winter, shall we?

As far as style is concerned I have definitely always had my own personal style (no matter how bad that was at times) however, I have always been inspired by music, movies, photographs, art, people on the street, you name it.

For the past couple of years, I have been really liking my skinnies and booties but, thanks to Alison Mosshart, I want to wear nothing else.

This rockin’ Florida native is not only Kate Moss’s bff (you all know how much I love Kate, right?) but she is also the lead singer of not only 1 but 2 bands (The Kills and The Dead Weather).

Alison has her style down. It’s all about the skinnies, awesome booties, tees, blanket-style ponchos and sweaters, leopard jackets and scarves.

Alison Mosshart is my style inspiration for fall/winter 2011.

What about you? Who or what is inspiring you this fall/winter?

Mamas & their babies

Today’s mamas & their babies segment is a little different.

Since Lily and I have not seen any mamas and babies that you have not yet met, I have decided to dedicate this post to some of my favorite models and their babies.

These girls are the girls I remember the most since I have been following fashion.

Most of these girls are the reason I shaved my eyebrows, wore dresses on top of jeans with adidas and fat laces (remember Marc Jacobs for Perry Ellis?).

To me, they were all individuals with great personal style who set the trends.

And now, they are all mamas!

Hope you enjoy seeing them if you haven’t in a while.

Mommy muses

When it comes to “mommy style”, there are two mommies on top of my list.

1- Kate Moss

2- Gwyneth Paltrow

Kate Moss has been one of my muses since she started modeling in the early 90’s.

I have always loved her look and personal style.

She has always stayed true to herself (looking fabulous) before, during and after having her daughter Lila Grace.

No matter where Kate goes, the airport, to pick up her daughter from school, to the beach, she always looks on top of her game.

Gwyneth Paltrow is a bit more classic than Kate but, she too always looks polished and also has stayed true to herself.

It’s hard to stay on top of things (like fashion amongst many things) with children but these two ladies, do it right every time!

How about you, do you have any muses?

New beginnings

One of my new year resolutions was to paint more. (and to dance more also)

And paint is just what I got to do on saturday.

Will took Lily over to our friends Dave and Tricia’s house and I got to paint ALL day long!! (thank you Will, Dave and Tricia! 🙂 )

It has been an inner struggle for me to give up family time on the weekends in order for me to do things like paint but, I have realized that I MUST do it.

It is good for me, it is good for my soul. 😉

Here is my new painting, FALLEN STAR. (if you would like to see more of my art, you can go here)
