An amazing sunset and a full moonrise

Well, the time has come for us to leave this magical place in West Virginia.

Early tomorrow morning we are headed for the beach in the outer banks to have one more week all together.

From the first time I visited West Virginia back in 2007 I felt at home. It was like I had grown up here.

Not only did Will’s family welcome me with open arms but so did their friends, the mountains, the trees and this fresh mountain air.

There are good people here. Good, good people. And the love in this family is like no other love I have felt before.

It won’t be long until we are all together here again. After all, Christmas is right around the corner.

I leave you with this last WV post with an amazing sunset and full moonrise from a magical and secret place.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Feels like forever ago

Yesterday while Lily was falling asleep to nap, I thought about how long it had been since I breast fed her.

Then, I started counting months and realized that she is only 16 months, she weaned herself off at 12 months so, it had only been 4 months!

It feels like forever ago.

When it happened I was worried that I would lose that bond with her.

That she and I wouldn’t have those wonderful quiet moments anymore.

I had no reason to worry.

She and I have many wonderful quiet moments and we are closer than ever.

My little ratinha is growing fast but she still needs her mama. 🙂

me, Lily and the moon

19 years closer

We had a great turn out at our full moon beach picnic last night.

It was just wonderful being around friends while watching the moon rise from the ocean.

I hadn’t done that in forever and one thing about Miami, we get beautiful moons here.

How about you?

Did any of you do anything special for the “special” moon last night?

P.S.- 2 more things:

1- Will and I are totally loving our camera. We took turns taking pictures last night. (Zura also took some too!)

2- We had such a great time being surrounded by so many wonderful friends and the ocean that when we got home, we started looking at Miami listings again…..

An outing

Last night I went out with the girls I used to work with.

2 of us have since left the company (me included) but, we all worked together for quite sometime and got to be the best of friends.

It is always a good time when we are ALL out. (and even better when everything is free and comped!!)

We started the evening at Bond St at the rooftop of the Townhouse Hotel with sweet saketinis and sushi.

After everyone had left, Jocelyn and I walked over to the W hotel to use their fabulous bathroom and check out some of their wonderful art. (Basquiat, Warhol, Condo, Hirst)

I rode home (on Sally) by myself and it was a beautiful night out.

I took my time enjoying the moon and the art on Lincoln Rd.

Are you all ready for the moon tomorrow night?

It is going to be HUGE!!!!!! (the biggest and closest it’s been in 19 years HUGE!)

Have a great weekend everyone. 🙂

(P.S.- There is still time for you to enter the GIVEAWAY)

Meeting Sisto James

Yesterday we drove 2 hours north to Port St. Lucie to go see our friends who live in L.A. and meet their 7 month old baby Sisto James.

Our other friends also drove up from Miami and brought their little ones, Anabelle (3) and Cole (16 months).

We couldn’t have asked for a better day.

We spent the whole day playing outside in their great yard.

There were lots of little ones for Lily to play with.

She didn’t even nap! (which was fine because she passed out in the car on the way home)

2 hour car trip? toys please!! it’s hard entertaining her in the car for that long

My dearest Lily,

Your favorite things lately are rainbows, stars and the moon.

You have been obsessed with the moon for a little while now.

When you see her out, you point and you say “ooooooooooo!”.

When you see her in books, you always point her out as well.

You started liking stars because of my star tattoo on my left wrist.

Every time I’m changing your diaper, you grab my left hand and you kiss the stars.

You are SO sweet!

Rainbows are your latest, and you became aware of them through the Yogabbagabba Paul Williams’ video Rainbow Connection.

You love when I draw rainbows for you.

Rainbows, stars and the moon… you are a girl after my own heart.

I love you,

your mama.

If you’re afraid of the dark…

Do you read the same books to your little one every night?

We were reading the same 2 books (Goodnight moon and The going to bed book) to Lily every night for months.

Until we started noticing that she was getting quite bored and not wanting to sit through the 2 books.

It makes sense, right?

I mean, if you were read the same 2 books EVERY night for a year you would be bored too.

I decided it was time to share MY favorite book with Lily.

IF YOU ARE AFRAID OF THE DARK REMEMBER THE NIGHT RAINBOW by Cooper Edens is a beautifully illustrated book (in a 60’s trippy sort of way) with quirky lines like “if the moon gets stuck in a tree… cover the hole in the sky with a strawberry.”.

Lily was so excited to be read a new book, she quietly sat through the reading not once but twice before going to bed.

I’m so happy that she enjoys Cooper Edens as much as I do.

I found this book in L.A. in the mid 90’s and have held onto it since then. (it was in mint condition until Lily ripped the cover off yesterday morning. grrrrrrrrrrrr!)

I can’t wait to receive the 2 new Edens books I just ordered through (i love Cooper Edens!)

Happy bed time reading for Lily and for mommy and daddy. 🙂
