New Jersey

Friday

I’ve been wondering again if Miami is where we should be and if it’s really our home.

Do any of you feel the same way about where you live?

Maybe it’s because I moved around a lot when I was little that I have the difficulty to stay put and always feel like the air is cooler on the other side.

Maybe I just haven’t quite found the place that is home.

Although, home is where the heart is right? So obviously Portugal, New Jersey, San Diego and Miami have all been home. At one time or another.

I seem to be filled with a lot of life changing questions in this new year of 2012.

Is Miami our home? Do I want another child? Am I still me?… Lots of questions and no definite answers yet.

Anyway, if you are friends with me on FB, you may have noticed my picture morning greetings.

It’s a series of mug shots (coffee mug that is) I have been having fun with called Good morning Miami.

It’s silly but it has been cheap entertainment for me.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Moving?????

For those of you who have been coming here for a while, you are probably aware that both Will and I have a love/hate relationship with Miami and think about moving often.

For those of you who are new coming here and didn’t know, Will and I have a love/hate relationship with Miami and think about moving often.

Will was born and raised in West Virginia and misses mountains and seasons.

I was raised in Portugal and New Jersey and miss hills and seasons.

We need a bigger place (still living in a 1 bedroom apartment) and what we really want is a house.

The house we REALLY want is in Raleigh, NC and we have both been considering moving there for a while now.

It’s hard though.

We don’t really know Raleigh that well and we don’t really have any friends there.

When we think about moving, we both get sad thinking about leaving behind our great friends that we have here.

And then, there are days like yesterday.

Even though it was too hot out for me (it was perfect beach weather really), it is so easy to entertain Lily around here.

We went for a bike ride, stopped off at a park, stayed for a while, went for a walk on Lincoln road where she was busy looking at the water fountains.

It makes thinking about moving so much harder….

(Please vote for us here. Thank you!)

bad picture of me but look how happy Lily is!

ARTsy wednesday

Hello everyone, it’s ARTsy wednesday!!!!

My friend Nancy Sulla’s gallery, s.h.e. gallery is opening on the 8th of this month.

It is a great new space located at 819 Main St in Boonton, NJ 07005.

It will be featuring works by such talented artists like Steve Cavallo, Judy Chicago, Anthony Mezza and even yours truly, Claudia Guerreiro.

s.h.e. gallery is an art gallery with a mission.

It donates 10% of its revenue to organizations that exemplify social justice. At this time, their support is going to:

CARE- www.care.org. A leading humanitarian organization fighting global poverty, placing a special emphasis on working alongside poor women.

Women for Women International- www.womenforwomen.org. Supporting women in war-torn regions with financial and emotional aid, job-skills training, rights education, and small business assistance so they can rebuild their lives.

Through the Flower- www.throughtheflower.org. A non-profit Feminist art organization founded by Judy Chicago, seeking to educate a broad public about the importance of art and its power in countering the erasure of women’s achievements.

So, if all my Jersey peeps are reading this, you should all go out there and show some support! 🙂
